Why Is It Important To Go Volunteering With Your Family Members ?

It's always easier to feel disconnected as family members juggle work, school, kids, home, social gatherings and several other activities. But there are some simple things that can bring the members closer — playing an indoor game, going for a hike or picnic, or cooking a meal together.

One of the most satisfying and productive ways to unite as a family is through volunteering for any sort of community service projects. Volunteerism also sets a good example for others to get inspired by your actions.

Mixing Fun and Volunteering on a Fathom Cruise

The recently created Fathom Cruises, a division of the mammoth Carnival Cruise Line, offers a kind of social good cruise unprecedented in the industry. For the inaugural Dominican Republic itinerary, that translates to two days cruising from Miami each way, and three days docked at Amber Cove to give back to the Puerto Plata community. The concept is to combine travel with “social impact,” providing opportunities for travelers to have fun and participate in volunteer work activities on shore.

Iberostar Playa Mita Resort On Mexico's Riviera Nayarit

Recently, on a press trip for the grand opening of the Iberostar Playa Mita, the company's newest hotel in Mexico and its first property on the Pacific at Riviera Nayarit, I enjoyed watching toddlers, kids, and their parents splashing in the infinity pool and building sand castles. It's been a long time since I had a baby or child to travel with, but I remember it with great joy, and I thought how wonderful a family vacation here would be.
