(New York, NY – February 1, 2012) Family Travel Forum, the award-winning resource for planning fun family vacations, and the Society of American Travel Writers is pleased to announce its second FTF Young Travel Writers Scholarship. The merit scholarships encourage young writers to share their travel experiences in words and images.

A cash award ($150) is given to the author of the blog rated highest by a panel of judges from the Society of American Travel Writers, and the work of 3 additional Honorable Mention nominees is rewarded with travel prizes. All the top travel blogs are posted on Family Travel Forum’s site www.MyFamilyTravels.com.

“Family Travel Forum and SATW are proud to support the work of young travel bloggers,” says FTF editor Kyle McCarthy. “We hope that sharing their work in our online communities inspires the next generation of world travelers.”

The merit scholarship contest is open to writers ages 18 to 26 and can describe a destination or experience anywhere in the world. Applicants are asked to submit a maximum 800-word blog on any type or any aspect of a trip they have taken in the last five years, along with a photo or video.
