Since it opened three years ago, the Plaza Premium Lounge has been greeting passengers at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India with a full menu of “Nap & Shower” options.
The international chain of spa oriented airport lounges offers a variety of time-passing choices, ranging from 30 minutes’ use of the shower facilities to freshen up (about US$8) to Nap Suites sleeping two (US$45 for three hours) to seated massages.
On my recent return from the Goa International Travel Mart in Southern India, I had a seven-hour layover at Delhi’s modern airport, more than enough time to admire its beautiful Buddhist artwork, international Duty Free arcade and excellent array of arts and crafts in the Delhi Bazaar gift shop.
As midnight approached, I retreated to the quiet of the Plaza Premium Lounge in the domestic terminal for a 45-minute seated massage (US$24).
I was set up in a lounging booth with a reclining chair where I was able to recharge my phone and laptop while a strong, skilled masseuse recharged me.
Plaza Premium Lounges are Great Value
Normally $25 for two hours including snacks, this comfort can be had for only $8 if you are an American Express cardholder. The Plaza Premium Network Lounges also have discount deals with Diners Club and several of the Asian airlines mileage award programs.
While there, I noticed that the uniformed technicians also do manicures, pedicures and reflexology massage. Not a bad way to spend a layover for every member of the family.
For more information and lounge locations in other major airports, including several in Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, check out The Plaza Lounge Network.
