Students Explore the Teen Travel Experience in 10th Annual Merit Competition for College Grants

(New York, NY – May 24, 2016) Family Travel Forum, the award-winning resource for family vacation planners, announces the 10th annual FTF Teen Travel Writing Scholarship. The merit scholarship, judged in association with the Society of American Travel Writers, asks teens to share their travel experiences in words and images.

The top three winners will receive cash grants ($1,000, $500, $250) and a GoBag Travel Bag provided by sponsor Allianz Global Assistance. The work of 20 Honorable Mention nominees will be rewarded with a subscription to the Lonely Planet magazine. All of the top travel blogs will be posted on Family Travel Forum’s site MyFamilyTravels.com

Family Travel Forum is so pleased to have reached this milestone — the 10th anniversary of our scholarship means more than 50,000 teens have been inspired to share their travel tales,” says senior editor Fran Falkin. “We remember many of the great stories from past years, and are gratified to learn than several of our past winners have gone on to careers in communications.”

The merit scholarship contest is open to students ages 13 to 18 who are enrolled in a junior high, high school or homeschool program in the United States, Canada or American school abroad. Students are asked to submit a maximum 600-word essay on any type or any aspect of a trip they have taken in the last five years, along with a photo or video.
