One would think that at any car rental agency, child seats would be available without much fuss. Think again.

According to Consumer Reports Travel Letter, a number of the major agencies won’t unconditionally guarantee child seat availability. We checked in on the latest.

Alamo (800/GO-ALAMO) will guarantee a carseat with your rental in the US and Canada at airport locations, but they are subject to availability outside the US.

Avis Rent-A-Car  (800/331-1212) Please ask for a seat when you make your reservations. Rates vary by location, but there is a $60 maximum charge.

Budget Rent-A-Car (800/527-0700) guarantees a seat at corperate-owned franchises. Rates vary by location, and average at $12 per day, with a $60 maximum.

Dollar Rent-a-Car (800/800-3665) offers child safety seats at most locations. Prices vary according to location.

Hertz (800/654-3001) Child seats are available at all U.S. locations for $13 per day, $65 per week. One seat is free for AAA members for the length of rental.

National Car Rental ( 800/CAR-RENT) guarantees child seats and requires that children under the age of 5 years ride in a federally approved seat. Rates vary, but average $9 per day.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car (800/261-7331) seats are available at most airport locations, but you must contact the specific location to make a request. Prices vary.

Thrifty Car Rental (800/847-4389) Seats are available at most airport locations for $12 per day.

Bottom line: when making rental car plans, inquire specifically about child seat availability and get a guarantee with your confirmation number.

Every vehicle must have this kind of seats for babies and kids. Safety is the very first thing that we should consider whenever we are traveling. Most of the car rentals around the world have this alternative as long as you mention it upon the reservation.

Childs safety is not there in rental car its real true for todays time. When we are planning to go in private car we never think about our childs compatibility. if you are going in your personal card then you never feel tensed because its your personal one and always try your best to keep all the comfortable things with you.

Nice And Reality Based Information Discussed In This Article.I Am Agree With That The Childern Saftey Is Also Be Important And Should Take Step For This Espacially In Rental Cars.

Just want to say I definitely see the content of this I tried to find today. This brief article is directly at the time. Thanks for your time to write and also to see him. This could be one of the best pieces I have had for a long time.

It was a beneficial workout for me to go through your webpage. It definitely stretches the limits with the mind when you go through very good info and make an effort to interpret it properly.

I can't stress enough that it is worthwhile to check the rental car web sites periodically for new rates. Like the airlines, rental car companies change their rates constantly. However, unlike the airlines, there is no penalty for canceling or making changes to your car rental reservation. I have saved as much as $150 on a one-week rental by rebooking my reservation when the rate dropped.

It is best to ask and consider other options in choosing car rental service especially if you have kids with you. It's also advisable to inspect the car first if it's really child-friendly and always ask questions.

I agree the child safety should be one of the prior things. But I have a good experience in such cases, whenever I am traveling with my family in a rental car and I need a baby car stroller then I mention it to the rental company at the time of booking. I think it may also depend upon the rental company. I usually book from http://www.pointcarhire.com/ . So you may also try if anyone has issues with their rental company.

I always check the rates with several codes from that list and book the lowest, without even looking whose it is. So do my friends. We have never been asked to show any ID, certificate, business card, flight ticket or anything else. The rental agent really couldn't care less, and I'm sure the rental company is happy to get the business even at a low margin.

I am tottaly agree, its car rental companies responsibility to provide child seats and other necessary arrangements which are useful for whole family while traveling but most companies neglect this. thanks for this information, nice article.

Kind of strange, these companies need to rethink there program. Car seats is an important feature to have in car rentals.

Seats for child are mandatory to have in any trip. Its dis-heartening to learn that many car rental companies neglect this most important duty. Its best to inquire and confirm before taking car on rent. Good article for people planning to rent their next car.
