Southern Texas Living - My Family Travels

You probably think that Spring Branch and Bulverde Texas are in the middle of nowhere and have absolutely nothing for passersby to do. Although these towns may not be suitable to everyone’s needs, they are both charming in their own southern, Texas way. For adventure seekers, the beautiful Guadalupe River State Park has various hiking trails, horseback riding trails, camp sites, and access to the Guadalupe River. It is the perfect place for people willing to explore the outdoors and enjoy the abundance of wildlife that can also be seen around the entire countryside. There is other access to the Guadalupe River on highway 281 and in a few neighborhoods. The river offers many fun things to enjoy, such as tubing and kayaking, as well as picnic areas on its banks. It is a wonderful destination for families seeking a great place to have fun during the summer months. For other adventures, Enchanted Rock is only a drive away and offers camp sites as well as rock climbing and hiking.

One of the best places to eat in our community would have to be Richter’s Antler Café. It has a tasty selection of southern home cooking that everyone can enjoy, and pie for dessert truly tops the meal off. A good characteristic of the countryside is the beautiful scenery, especially in spring when the highway is aligned with bluebonnets. It is a real pleasure to drive through different neighborhoods and see the well groomed yards of hard working owners. One neighborhood in particular, River Crossing, has many beautiful homes as well as a golf club. The golf course rests at the main entrance to the neighborhood and is always in wonderful shape. The water ponds are clear and there is always a group of people enjoying a round of golf. Overall, this community has a pleasant feeling which is both inviting and enjoyable. If you look around, there are a few shops as well, although Spring Branch and Bulverde are not known for their shops, each one is unique. Forge Imports on highway 281 has an interesting selection of metal art that can bring eyes directly to your front yard. There are even a few small shops on highway 46 as well as a teen club named Harmony Sweets. This local facility is fairly new, but it is already a big hit for local bands hoping to play for an audience and it is completely safe. For athletic enthusiasts, Jumbo Evan's Sports Park is open to the public and has a soccer field, a baseball field, green space for recreation, and a playground for young kids.

If you’re interested in meeting new and interesting people in the community, a church is always a good solution. CBC Bulverde is a wonderful church to meet new people especially because they are always welcoming visitors.

Although Spring Branch and Bulverde may not be the highest in popularity for tourism, they do have charming character and are both pleasurable to visit, especially if you know people who live in the area. It really is a fun place to relax, especially if you live in a city, it really isn’t that far of a stretch from all of those city amenities because San Antonio is right around the corner.
