I live in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City, a city where all five boroughs are special in their own unique way. Like most boroughs Brooklyn contains diverse cultures and uplifting energy. Although many tourists visit Manhattan due to its world renowned landmarks, people are unaware of the beauty and excitement that is also present in Brooklyn. Known for its famous pizza parlors and historical attractions, Brooklyn engulfs the world in all 96.91 square miles of it. One would be astonished to witness the various customs and excitement Brooklyn has to offer.

To stray away from the excitement, many choose to go for walks in the park and enjoy nature. In the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, Prospect Park is where many Brooklyn dwellers go to maintain their inner peace. With beautiful lakes, large trees, many colorful flowers and green grass, Prospect Park is a great place to have picnics, barbeques, go fishing and have some quiet time. Prospect Park has a five mile running/bike path, several people run and ride their bike around for recreation or exercise which is a great way to work out and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Besides for the daily interactions with the park, concerts, marathons and other interesting events are held here for viewers’ entertainment. Of all of the libraries in Brooklyn only one stands out for a pretty obvious reason. In the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn lays the Central Library, known for its massive size and captivating décor. Once you walk in you are automatically mesmerized by the copious amount of people reading and scavenging for books. Central Library has a vast selection of books to look through and it is very intriguing to journey through this enormous library.

Brooklyn dwellers have an amusement park, just minutes away by car, train, bus and even walking distance. The world renowned Astro Land lies in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn where tons of people gather each day to enjoy the rides, food and games. Besides for the amusement park, many visitors enjoy walking along the board walk on Coney Island beach or going to see a Cyclones baseball game. To satisfy your sweet tooth you can indulge in a variety of sweets such as candy apples, cotton candy or funnel cakes from places such as Nathans, and William’s Candy Shop. For those who want to be enlightened on the world’s history and also be astounded by 1800’s architecture some would go to the Brooklyn museum, in the Crown heights area of Brooklyn. This museum contains many artifacts from several countries and time periods. The presentation of the museum is significant to its attraction due to the large size and astounding outside design. This museum is well known for its vast collection of Ancient Egyptian and American art. Brooklyn museums’ collection of Ancient Egyptian artifacts and art from 3,000 years ago consist of jewelry, mummies, tools and instruments. Those interested in American history can view the museums collection of American art dating back from the colonial time period.

Visiting Brooklyn is worth the gas money and also worth the plane ticket. After tourists visit Manhattan I’d recommend they visit Brooklyn because it also can be very intriguing and have the same “wow effect”. Brooklyn holds a lot of history that many Brooklyn dwellers aren’t even aware of and if one were to explore Brooklyn’s history they would be astonished. Besides for the places that I listed, Brooklyn has several other locations for someone to enjoy their-self and have a memorable time.
