Vera Bradley, Queen of Fort Wayne, Indiana

I admit to being a New York fashion snob who would sooner shop in le Midi than in the Midwest, so not until I attended the Travel Media Showcase conference in Illinois last summer had I even heard of Vera Bradley.

That's Where We Wanna Go...Way Down to Kokomo

Sometimes it seems like the Beach Boys were in a state of delusion when the band wrote their well-known song, Kokomo. The song comes on the radio here in Indiana, and we all sit back to think, “I don’t see any bodies in any sand, and I surely do not have a tropical drink melting in my hand.” Instead we forty-six thousand citizens of Kokomo, Indiana see the daily crowd of cars parked at Delphi and Chrysler, and in our hands we have thirty-two ounce Cokes from Mac’s. Can’t you see how The Beach Boys easily were confused?

Home Sweet Home

I have lived in South Bend, Indiana my whole life. I know you're thinking, “I'm so sorry," but it's actually a great place. There is plenty to do and see in the city and it’s impossible to get bored here. You just have to know where to look!

South Bend is home to plenty of fabulous coffee shops, most of which I frequent. The best is Main Street Coffee House, and I spend much of my time here drinking espressos. If you’re not a fan of coffee, we also have a variety of well-liked “juice bars.”

Home Is Where You Make It

Where is home? Well I've always said that home is where you make it, but Versailles, Indiana is the place I was raised at and it is where I continue to live. This town has been around since 1818, but I've only been here since 1999. I moved here when I was three and it's the only home I can ever remember.
