A Culinary Revolution in Colonial Virginia

There was a time not long ago when a family visit to Colonial Williamsburg meant living a, shall we say…  dated lifestyle.  Many parents, especially those with tweens and teens who bore easily, pushed off a visit to Virginia’s Historic Triangle until their empty nester years.

That’s no longer necessary. Thanks to the surge in gastronomic tourism (71% of travelers surveyed in 2015 said their trips had a moderate or high food focus), many historic destinations are appealing to forward-looking visitors by upping their foodie game.

Why Is It Important To Go Volunteering With Your Family Members ?

It's always easier to feel disconnected as family members juggle work, school, kids, home, social gatherings and several other activities. But there are some simple things that can bring the members closer — playing an indoor game, going for a hike or picnic, or cooking a meal together.

One of the most satisfying and productive ways to unite as a family is through volunteering for any sort of community service projects. Volunteerism also sets a good example for others to get inspired by your actions.

Rock On at the Panama Canal

The last time I really thought about the Panama Canal was back in middle school, when I studied how it transformed global trade routes when it opened in 1914. But then I began hearing rave reviews from several friends who had vacationed there. Suddenly it was on my travel radar. I learned firsthand what a fascinating historic and fun destination it is when I recently got to experience it for myself.

Me and My Monkey in Costa Rica

We were told about the monkeys when we checked into to the Hyatt’s Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, a delightful, all natural spot nestled on Culebra Bay on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. There were two types in evidence — the capuchins and howler monkeys — and, instead of being alarmed to hear the latter earning their name at night, it was suggested we might become friends.

3 Bucket List Adventures to Check Off in Hawaii

The islands of Hawaii are known for their varied scenery and culture, so when we realized how expensive a trip would be, we picked the most diverse one -- The Big Island – to knock off some bucket list dreams. Little did we know that instead of luaus and hula lessons, we’d be able to swim with manta rays, see lava flowing into the sea, and stargaze from the world’s tallest mountain.
