Cruise With Kids Vacations And Family-Friendly Ships

Kids are everywhere -- on cruise ships anyway -- whether you are in the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska or far-flung destinations like the Galapagos Islands and even the Arctic. According to the MMGY Global 2016 Portrait of American Travelers, those who travel with kids (63% vs. 56%) are more interested in a cruise vacation than those going solo, so with a projected 25.3 million passengers for 2017, kids will indeed be everywhere.

Royal Caribbean Adds Lifeguards To All Ships

One of the largest and most well known cruise companies in the world, Royal Caribbean International, will now be adding lifeguards to their cruise ships. For years, Royal Caribbean has held to the belief that safety aboard their ships is in part the responsibility of their passengers. Now, the company has changed their guest safety policy to include lessons on water safety for children onboard, as well as trained lifeguards at every pool.

New Marvels Aboard the Disney Magic

The Disney Magic lives up to its name. My Daughter Daelyn and I had the opportunity to experience a little bit of the Disney Magic cruise ship while it was at port in New York City. During the time between arrival and the next departure, we were able to experience what fun, food and entertainment will be available to travelers on the ship in 2017.

We were also lucky enough, along with a few hundred children from local Boys and Girls clubs, to see one of the ship’s latest productions out of the Voyages Repertory

How Zika in Miami Ruined my Babymoon

I was just another hard-working, pregnant woman looking for a vacation when I booked a Bahamas cruise. Scheduled for this month, our Royal Caribbean cruise with another couple was sailing from the Port of Miami to the Bahamas.

When Compassion and Travel Work Toward a Cure

October is the month to "Think Pink," the time of year we focus on breast cancer, a disease that affects more than 1.7 million new people each year and represents 25% of all cancers in women.

In order to increase awareness of the disease, foster compassion for survivors and inspire them to travel, several companies have special offers and fund-raising deals. Here's a sampling, starting with a resort that offers comfort and support to survivors and their families all year round.

Mixing Fun and Volunteering on a Fathom Cruise

The recently created Fathom Cruises, a division of the mammoth Carnival Cruise Line, offers a kind of social good cruise unprecedented in the industry. For the inaugural Dominican Republic itinerary, that translates to two days cruising from Miami each way, and three days docked at Amber Cove to give back to the Puerto Plata community. The concept is to combine travel with “social impact,” providing opportunities for travelers to have fun and participate in volunteer work activities on shore.

Themed Itineraries Add Spice To Cruises

When my family boarded Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas for a Caribbean cruise with dozens of passengers wearing black leather and chains, we didn’t yet realize that 1,850 shipmates were sailing on the themed High Seas Rally cruise for motorcycle enthusiasts. Fortunately, today’s megaships are big enough to accommodate a variety of passenger interests.
