Heaven on Earth | My Family Travels

The most magnificent place on Earth is without a doubt Destin, Florida. Out of the numerous vacations I have been on such as Colorado, New Mexico, Orlando, Florida, Washington, D.C., Destin has been the best one yet. I have been there three times since the Summer of 2008. It is the prettiest beach I’ve seen. The water is crystal blue and very clear. The sand is white and clean. Beaches all around are a relaxing place to be, but Destin is just amazing.

The first time I went to Destin has been the best trip out of all three. I went with my oldest brother, his fiancé, my nephew, and my niece. It was eight long hours of travel; the trip was not very enjoyable, but well worth it. Once we arrived and carried all our luggage to our room we were headed down to the beach. Boy, was I excited. When my feet touched the warm sand, I felt like I was truly in heaven. After the sun set, we went crab hunting; we did not catch any crabs, but we saw a few of them.

Waking up to the sun rising over the beach front is a wonderful sight, it was probably the highlight of my trip, except for maybe the water park. We went to many restaurant which were all very delicious. One of the nights we went to The Track to race go-karts, it was a lot of fun. Then one day we went to the water park called Big Kahunna’s.  My niece was not old enough to ride the lazy river, so we went and rode all the rides she could!

The next afternoon, after getting off the beach we went on a Glass Bottom Boat dolphin cruise! The glass bottom was neat, you could see all the fish as we glided through the ocean. The workers put a net down to see what all we could catch as we traveled the ocean. When they pulled it out we did not have much, a few little fish and a blow fish. They had to poke the blow fish to make it angry so it would blow up. When we got to the spot where the dolphins were we had to clap and whistle as much as we could to make them come up. We saw at least four dolphins come out of the water. They were very pretty and unique looking.

The day before we went home was the Fourth of July. We watched the big fire works from our balcony, it was by far the prettiest thing I have ever encountered in my life. After the main fire works calmed down, we went down to the beach and shot some of our own fire works.

This vacation was my favorite in many ways. Everything about it was fun and relaxing, except for the drive, but it was worth it. There is not a thing I would change about it. The other two times were just as fun as the first, but the first time will always stick in my mind like glue. Going to lay on the beach, play in the ocean, getting a good tan, and being with people you love is what I call heaven on Earth.
