Traveling to the Desert

Looking for an amazing place to travel? Arizona showed me the wonder of the desert. From Ohio to Phoenix, Arizona, we explored the some of the United States’ main attractions. During our trip to Arizona, we had our first time plane experience, traveled to Las Vegas, and saw the Grand Canyon.

We traveled with Southwest Airlines and got great customer service. I was terrified of flying on an airplane for the first time. Come on, we were going to be about 30,000 feet in the air with nothing underneath us! The hostess boarding us to the plane let us approach the plane first since we were first timers. We got the front row seats. The attendants gave us lots of snacks to keep our minds off the flight. My heart was racing as the plane began to lift off. The ground slipped further and further away. As the plane got to seat belt height, the attendants came to make sure we were alright. They began taking drink orders to everyone on the plane. The attendants and people could not believe that it was really our first flight; they all looked at us as if we were from another country. It was like people flew all the time. As we were about to land, the attendants gave us a goody bag and announced to the whole plane that we had gotten our first-time wings.

Once we were at my uncle’s place for a few days, we took his truck and went to Las Vegas for two nights. When we arrived in Vegas, it was about seven p.m., just when the sun was glaring off of the huge buildings making them look like castles. We checked into our hotel, Circus Circus, and if the name is not enough then “seeing is believing.” At the hotel there were an amusement park, shows, restaurants, carnival games, and, of course, a huge casino. When we were about to leave our hotel, we saw a magic show going on in the middle of the hotel that we stopped to watch. We walked the Strip the next day and found that we had too much to see in such little time. In front of a mall we saw this huge fountain, and this was not just any fountain– it moved and shot water along with music every half an hour. There were so many out of-this-world buildings to see in Vegas.

On our way back to my Uncle’s house from Vegas, we went to the Grand Canyon. We arrived later in the day and tried to see all we could until it was dark. This was another place that pictures can not even describe how beautiful it was. The red rock went for miles wide and deep. It was miraculous to see how something so huge and beautiful could be real. There were different trails to travel down and cabins to stay in. We traveled from spot to spot around the rim of the canyon, dreading nightfall. Each rim overlook had a different view of the canyons. When the red rock disappeared in the darkness, we went back to my Uncle’s house.

My trip to Arizona was the best vacation I have ever taken. I got to experience the beautiful adventures of Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. I would tell anyone to visit these places, but to make sure they spend a few days at each place to get the full effect. It was something that people need to see for themselves.
