My fantastic city of Saint Clair Shores often referred to as “The Gateway to the Great Lakes”. You will have boundless access to plenty of recreational opportunities both on land and water. There are three waterfront and ten neighborhood parks to come and enjoy. Where you can sit by the lake or relax on the boat while taking in the aroma of barbecue treats.
During the summer at Veterans Memorial Park, you can enjoy “Music on the Lake”. Veterans Memorial Park has to be one of my favorite places to go. It has a beautiful walk path that encircles the park. At one point you are walking along the waterfront watching people fish off the dock to walking by the Splash Pad and hearing the wonderful sounds of laughter. It is a great place to hang out with family and play horseshoes; my Dad is still undefeatable.
We are also a dog friendly community. Located at Herman Brys Park there is a fenced in space called Statler-Maloof Bark Park, named after the local resident and well-known businessman, Fred Maloof and his 12-year-old dog Statler. Picnic tables and small overhead rain shelters are located within the park. The park is also divided into two areas, a larger area for large dogs, and a small play area for "wee doggies.”
You do not have to stick to walking only in the parks, the Nautical Mile which is located between 9 and 10 mile on Jefferson offers many retail stores, restaurants, and marinas.
Residents of Saint Clair Shores are very active people and love to be outdoors. If you take a drive thru the city you will see people biking, running, or walking. My Mom participated in a 5K walk/run held in Saint Clair Shores, called “Running Thru the Shores, she did it in just over 43 minutes, not bad for her second 5K.
Also, if you are a theater activist we have our very own Saint Clair Shores Players. They put on a variety of great plays from comedy to realistic life to fantasy.
I can’t forget to mention all the restaurants that we have located here in Saint Clair Shores. For example, we have The Blue Goose Inn, Waves, Golden Chopsticks, Rojo’s, and many more! Furthermore, we are being gifted with Buffalo Wild Wings which will surely become the newest hot spot for young adults in the Shores!
Overall, the depth of a hometown experience magnifies the characteristics of each separate resident. The top spots to visit in Michigan is either in the Upper Peninsula, or, surprisingly, in Detroit. However, I believe a whole different place needs to be accounted for. For example, St. Clair Shores is the home of Dave Coulier. Dave Coulier is known for playing Joey on “Full House”. By having a local celebrity, St. Clair Shores is given the advantage, but with this is not the only thing that is important about St. Clair Shores. By noticing the previous information, you can tell that adding this sweet little teaspoon of celebrity helps develop St. Clair Shores to being the perfect town to visit, or to settle down in.
