Wet And Wild At Schlitterbahn Waterparks

It hasn't been voted the "World's Best Waterpark" for 19 years for nothing; Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort is a fun, imaginative, aquatic entertainment center. Since its opening in 1979, the 70-acre resort in New Braunfels, Texas -– both an amusement park and a hotel with 238 rooms -– has been one of the top-attended amusement parks in the country. The name is German for 'slippery highway' -- a good description of what it offers.

I Think We're in Kansas

The road north curves and winds through the valleys of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains just as the summer breeze cuts through the New Mexico maple and pine trees that line the luscious terrain.  This hidden highway is quickly transformed into desolate plains as it reaches the Oklahoma panhandle.  Mountain ridges soon fade into the distance as they are replaced by the forgotten farmland of the breadbasket state. The Kansas wheat and cornfields are bland and boring.  The road is strait and flat which promotes easy sleep for the rest of the journey.

Cars, Stars, and Road Trips

The plan for “Roadtrip 2k14” was brilliant, in my opinion. My little green Honda Accord got excellent gas mileage and had proved itself to be a reliable car over the past year it had been in my possession. It could make the trip from Spokane, Washington to Olathe, Kansas for about $500 round trip, according to rough estimates from the internet.

A Camp that Changed My View of Life

When you meet people from other countries, with backgrounds and beliefs different than yours, you are able to learn many things that you would not ever imagine. This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Harvest of Hope Leadership Academy (HHLA), at the University of Kansas, in Lawrence, KS. It was a three-week long summer camp for migrant students where I had the pleasure of meeting and learning from students from different countries and cities across Kansas.
