During McCarthy's tenure, Family Travel Forum has received many awards, including those from Condé Nast Traveler, Forbes, The Wall St. Journal, National Parenting Center and North American Travel Journalists Association. McCarthy is the co-author of 12 guidebooks for the Frommer's series on Greece, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Thailand and Bangkok, as well as "America's Most Popular Family Vacations" (2016), "Complete Idiot's Guide to the Best Family Destinations" (2012) and "Amazing Places to Take Your Kids" (2008).
Additionally, McCarthy has contributed regularly to U.S. News & World Report and MSN Travel, covering travel and tourism. She has created digital content for CNN, Walt Disney Company, Discovery Communications, Travel Channel and others, as well as print for magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Backpacker, Conde Nast Traveler, Departures and Wired. McCarthy has been a featured speaker at the New York Times Travel Show, several trade events, and several TV and radio segments as a family travel expert. McCarthy is a member of New York Travel Writers, Directors Guild of America and the IAB's Long Tail Alliance.
She lives in New York City with her husband and is the mother of a millennial son and his beautiful wife in San Francisco.
