This Ohio Restaurant Serves Dinner With Chucky, Pennywise and Horror Scenes Around Every Corner

Buttery movie popcorn hits before the front counter even comes into view, and right away this dinner feels different. Where a regular host stand should be, a mock ticket booth glows under red and black decor that sets the mood.

Behind, a masked figure lurks, and laughter bursts out when the jump scare finally lands. This Ohio spot is part diner, part horror museum, and part roadside attraction rolled into one.

The plan was a burger, but the visit ends with a camera roll full of dangerous clowns, horror icons, and a grin that lasts for months. The menu leans on comfort food, and the atmosphere feels like a haunted house that decided to serve dinner.

Every corner holds another prop, another poster, another reason to look over your shoulder. The staff play along with the theme, and the whole place hums with playful energy.

Scary movie fans and curious diners alike will find something to love here. The experience is one you will talk about for weeks.

My first few minutes inside felt more like buying a ticket to a midnight show than checking in for dinner. Instead of a podium and a stack of menus, there is a mock ticket office up front, styled like an old cinema booth.

Then there is the popcorn. That warm, salty movie theater smell floats through the lobby and instantly makes you hungry, even if you just ate.

Tables also get popcorn to munch on while you settle in, which is a sweet little touch that sets a playful mood right away.

Look up, too. The ceiling lights are shaped like film reels, a quiet nod to the cinema theme that a lot of people miss on their first visit.

Red and black colors cover the space, and they manage to feel spooky without ever feeling grim.

Here is a helpful tip for first timers. Reservations are strongly suggested because this place gets busy, especially on weekends and around birthdays.

Parking sits behind the building and is free, and there is a small alley you can cut through to reach the front door. Knowing that ahead of time saves you from circling the block while your stomach growls.

Murals, Monsters, and a Shark Lurking in the Back

Honestly, I could have skipped dinner and just stared at the walls for an hour. Giant murals stretch across the dining room, packed with famous faces from horror and spooky comedy.

Beetlejuice grins from one wall, while Pennywise and Jason from Friday the 13th keep watch nearby. Cousin It from The Addams Family shows up in all his hairy glory, and the Ghostbusters crew adds a fun, lighter touch.

Wander toward the back and you will find a huge Jaws mural, which made me hum that famous two note theme the whole way to the restroom.

Many of the props actually move, and some puff out fog when you least expect it. One minute you are reaching for a napkin, and the next a cloud drifts past your elbow.

The interior was designed by Teeya Wright of Wright Spaces Designs, and every corner shows real care.

Sixteen TV screens play scary films nonstop, giving the room a true Halloween 365 feeling. Do yourself a favor and take a slow lap before your food arrives.

There is so much detail tucked into this Ohio place that plenty of guests come back just to spot things they missed the first time.

Chucky, Pennywise, and Friends Drop By Your Table

Nobody warned me that Michael Myers would be the most popular guy in the building. Scare actors roam the dining room all night, dressed as horror legends like Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Pennywise, Ghostface, and a very dramatic clown.

They sneak up behind chairs, pop out from corners, and then switch gears to pose for photos. That mix of fright and friendliness is what makes it work.

You get a quick jolt, a big laugh, and then a picture you will want to frame.

Kids handle it better than you might expect. The characters are about as scary as what you would see on Halloween night, and the actors are good at reading the room.

Little ones get a gentler approach, while horror fans who want a real scream usually get one.

My advice is simple: keep your phone handy but not glued to your hand. Some of the best moments come when you least expect them, like a masked visitor leaning over your fries.

Ask nicely for a photo, play along with the act, and you will walk away with stories that beat any ordinary night out in Cleveland.

Ordering here made me feel like I was picking a movie, not a meal. The menu leans into the theme hard, and the slogan says it best: the only thing scary is how good the food is.

Burgers are a big draw. The Texas Chainsaw Burger, the Lurch Burger, and The Shining burger all have loyal fans, and the Pennywise brings a sweet and slightly spicy kick.

Plant-based eaters are covered with the Ecto Burger, a vegan pick that holds its own next to the meaty options.

Waffle lovers, get ready. The Twilight is a crispy black waffle with cream cheese, whipped topping, and sticky fried chicken wings, and it looks as dramatic as it tastes.

The 24kt Gold Wings also arrive on a black waffle with whipped cream, a combo that photographs beautifully under the moody lights.

Celebrity chef Darnell SuperChef Ferguson helped shape the menu, which explains why the flavors feel bold and fun. The food is mostly American comfort fare with a creative twist.

Prices for entrees are reasonable for the experience, so you can share an appetizer and still save room for dessert.

Brunch, Brinner, and Starters Worth Sharing

Weekend mornings here have their own creepy charm, and I would happily set an alarm for them. Brunch runs Friday through Sunday, and the dishes are just as wild as the dinner menu.

The Jigsaw is a red velvet pancake plate, rich and bright red in a way that suits its name. The Slimer is a green waffle sandwich stuffed with housemade sausage, egg, cheese, candied bacon, and maple syrup.

It sounds like a lot, and it is, in the best way possible.

Can’t decide between eggs and a burger? Brinner solves that problem by mixing breakfast and dinner favorites on one menu.

Lamb chops and eggs are a popular pick, and plenty of people swear by the chicken and waffles.

Starters are made for passing around the table. Scooby Snacks pile pulled chicken, wontons, sweet chili queso, chipotle pico, and Asian guacamole onto nachos.

Children of the Street Corn and the Camp Crystal Lake breakfast egg rolls also get plenty of love. Order two or three for the group so everyone gets a taste before the main plates land.

Birthday Parties With a Purge Twist

Few things beat hearing an entire dining room cheer for a stranger’s birthday. Celebrations are a huge part of the fun here, and on almost any night, at least one table is getting the full treatment.

Birthday guests often get a Purge-themed shout out, complete with masked characters, loud energy, and surprise jump scares. The whole restaurant becomes the audience.

Even if it isn’t your special day, you get front row seats to the show.

Families travel from all over for this. Some people plan road trips around it, stopping on the way home from Cedar Point or driving hours just to mark a big day in spooky style.

Plenty of guests show up dressed as their favorite horror characters, which adds to the party mood.

Planning one yourself? Book early, since birthday dates fill up fast and the place stays busy.

Let your server know about the celebration when you arrive, and mention any food allergies too, since the staff is known for being helpful with special needs. Then sit back, grab some popcorn, and let the masked crew handle the surprise part.

Why Cleveland Calls It the Cedar Point of Restaurants

By dessert, I finally understood the nickname everyone uses. People call this place the Cedar Point of restaurants, and it truly feels like an amusement park built around a dinner table.

A little history makes it even cooler. The Haunted House Restaurant opened on July 20, 2021, in the spot that used to house Melt.

Owners Ryan Gullatt, Andre Scott, Jeremiah Burks, and Christopher Thomas brought it to life, and Gullatt, known as DJ Ryan Wolf for the Cleveland Browns, came up with the idea during a quick 15 minute phone call.

That spark turned into something special for Cleveland Heights. The servers are friendly and attentive, the actors stay in character, and the kitchen backs up the theme with food that is far more than a gimmick.

Spooky souvenirs and shirts are also available if you want to bring a little horror home.

Hours change by day, with dinner most weeknights and brunch plus late dinners on weekends, so check before heading out. One visit rarely feels like enough.

Come hungry, come curious, and maybe come in costume.
