Q – Ann S. of Las Cruces, New Mexico writes: I want to take my 11-year-old son on an adventure/not-so adventure trip this summer. He loves sailing. Do you know of any kid-friendly trips that include large sailing boats?
A – The Maine Windjammer Association runs wonderful family trips in schooners off the coast of Maine. Read one family’s account of their adventure, “Windjamming in Maine. “
If you are interested in the Caribbean, read about a sailing trip in Antigua, “Sunsail Club Colonna.”
The Hawks Cay Resort in the Florida Keys runs a famous sailing program and offers courses for kids, and finally the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater accepts volunteers for two week stints on their cruises, but kids must be 12-years-old – maybe something for next summer!
