While St. Petersburg, Florida is only a bridge away from the more populated city of Tampa, this quaint region offers a plethora of diverse attractions and privately owned eateries and museums.

While St. Petersburg, Florida is only a bridge away from the more populated city of Tampa, this quaint region offers a plethora of diverse attractions and privately owned eateries and museums.

Downtown St. Petersburg, with its array of charming pubs and eclectic restaurants, offers a cultural appeal that can be considered the soul of St. Petersburg. Not only is Downtown St. Petersburg surrounded by welcoming, local venues, this area also offers open-aired themed plazas, such as the much celebrated Bay walk, ideal for any visitor to catch a movie or do some shopping.

If the warm gulf waters are what you crave, St. Petersburg is minutes away from the lavish gulf beaches.

During certain times of the year, free festivals and events are open to the public that will guarantee a pleasurable visit for your entire family. First Friday, which occurs the first Friday of every month, rain or shine, closes off the streets of downtown and caters to visitors simply looking to have a good time. Local music is usually played right in the middle of the street while couples and kids dance along to the friendly, familiar tunes.

Another event that occurs from October 3 through May 29, due to the stifling humidity of Florida’s infamous summers, features a variety of vendors, offering locally grown fresh produce and plants, gourmet prepared foods, such as fruit smoothies and smoked seafood, and of course freshly prepared baked goods… don’t forget to stop at Mama’s Dessert stand and grab a slice of her heavenly red velvet cake, seriously, it’s to die for.

After you’ve sampled as much food as you can stomach, frolic around the other stands that offer handcrafted art and attire that’ll definitely make your friends and family back home jealous.

The Saturday morning market is definitely quality family time, as you and your loved ones can casually stroll around and embrace the cultural heritages of this unique area.

You can even bring Fido along and sneak him samples of the different types of meat that fit almost perfectly right on a stick, if you’re not too busy gnawing away at it yourself.
