Bangor: The Retail Capital of Maine - My Family Travels

For those who aren’t familiar with Maine, we are not known for our shopping. With the exception of one city. People, especially those from northern Maine, flock to this city to get the best bargains that they can find at all of the major retail chains and some more locally-owned shops.

The city I speak of is Bangor, ME. Most people would know it as the hometown of horror author Stephen King. But really, it is the retail capital of Maine.

The city’s Hogan Road/Mall District is where the best bargains can be found. On Hogan Road there is the Bangor Mall which houses close to 100 retailers including three large department stores: Macy’s, JCPenney and Sears. Outside of the mall there are strip malls containing chains such as Old Navy, L.L. Bean, Target, Kohl’s and many more.

Besides the usual retail shops, Hogan Road is also known for its car dealerships. Around Maine, people come to Bangor’s Hogan Road to find the best deals at one of its many new and used car dealerships. There are many different makes to choose from ranging from the American cars such as Ford and Chevy to foriegn cars such as Toyota and Hyundai. There is even a Mercedes-Benz dealership for those who can afford a luxury car.

Overall, Bangor’s Hogan Road is the place to go for the best bargains whether you are looking to buy a new car, redecorate your home or even give yourself a new style!
