Just in time for holiday travel planning, Embassy Suites Hotels, the brand that brings travelers those great all-suite accommodations, free cooked-to-order breakfasts and complimentary evening receptions, presents interesting results of their recent survey conducted by Wakefield Research. In conjunction with the results, they are running a contest offering the winner a two-night stay at one of their 210 hotels.
It turns out that while people look forward to being together with family during the holidays, they find that being overnight guests in their homes is too much family time for some and that staying at a relative’s home can be stressful and uncomfortable.
Interesting survey results include the fact that 65% of Americans admit they do not feel fully comfortable as a guest in someone else’s home, perhaps explaining why 59% are willing to tell a white lie (such as being allergic to the hosts’ pets) to avoid staying with relatives during the holidays. It seems that guests often make this sacrifice for their hosts’ feelings, with 70% confessing they would prefer staying at a hotel to family’s house if they knew it wouldn’t offend them. Other juicy results indicate that 26% admit to sleeping longer than everyone else, 20% confessed to snoring loudly and 50% have seen guests not tidy up after themselves.
As a result, John Rogers, Global Head, Embassy Suites Hotels says “That is why this season, we are inviting families to stay with us at Embassy Suites, where we always strive to make them feel welcome and comfortable through our signature amenities.”
Check out the contest on the Embassy Suites’ Facebook page. Through December 29 you’ll have a chance to win a two-night stay at one of the brand’s more than 210 hotels. Travelers are invited to submit good tips and lessons learned from house guest experiences gone awry so they can put the number-one tip – being a hotel guest instead of a house guest – into action this holiday season.
Travel Expert Samantha Brown will select her three favorite tips each week, and Embassy Suites will ask the public to vote for the best one.
