I’m thrilled to hear that Sintra lives up to its reputation. The castles sound perfect for sparking our kids’ imaginations. It’s also reassuring to know it’s so close to Lisbon. I’m relieved to hear that getting around is manageable. We were a bit worried about navigation, but it sounds like we should be fine with the roads and public transport options.

Cascais wasn’t on our radar, so thanks for that tip! A beach day will definitely be a hit with the kids. And thanks for mentioning Lisbon and the Algarve – we’ll make sure to include those in our itinerary too. I also found this article that mentions Sintra has several beautiful beaches along its coastline, so we may not need to go far to enjoy the beach

Thanks again for all the helpful information!

Portugal is a wonderful spot for a family trip. Sintra feels really magical with its lovely castles, such as Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle, perfect for kids to explore. Sintra sits just about 30 minutes from Lisbon. There are many adventures for kids and grown-ups, from hiking paths to pretty parks.

Traveling around is usually simple; the roads stay in good shape and local transportation like buses and trains work well for families. A day trip to Cascais for some beach fun should not be skipped!

For more ideas, think about checking out the historic areas in Lisbon and the stunning beaches in the Algarve. Prepare for a very amazing adventure – happy planning!

We are considering Portugal for next year’s family vacation. We’ve heard amazing things, especially about Sintra with its fairytale castles. Anyone been there with kids? Wondering if it lives up to the hype! Plenty to keep both adults and kids entertained?

And finally, any insights on getting around? Are the roads good and the transportation options manageable for families?

Any other tips or must-see spots for a Portugal family trip would be amazing! Super excited to start planning this adventure, so any advice you can share is a huge help.

    Thanks a bunch!
