I currently live in Franklin, Tennessee. Franklin is a great community that has so much to offer anyone from musicians, historians or just someone who wants to enjoy a beautiful weekend in a quaint small town atmosphere. One of the first things I would show a tourists coming to Franklin would absolutely have to be the Carnton Plantation. This historic landmark shows the history of the area, but also the beauty of the land and the architecture of the civil war time period. After I had taken the travelers to see a bit of history at the Carnton Plantation, I would then proceed to show them the Carter House, which has its own amazing civil war history presented by very knowledgeable tour guides.
Once they have had an intriguing experience going through history we could then proceed to Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant downtown Franklin where you not only get to experience great Southern food, but you can also listen to great live bands from around the area while you dine. Then you and your guests can take a stroll through the beautiful downtown Franklin Main Street that gives you the opportunity to see the beautiful shops offering anything from coffee, handmade Tennessee arts and crafts, or homemade desserts. If you are in the mood to experience a movie or show in an old time theater, then you are absolutely in luck. The city of Franklin, with much support from local donors, has completely renovated this theater and it is now open for shows and movies. A tidbit while you are walking downtown, keep a look out, Franklin is home to many Country Music artists, professional athletes or celebrities and they frequently also enjoy a casual stroll down the beautiful Franklin Main Street. If you would like to shop antique shops veer just a couple blocks off the Main Street and you will find many antique shops to wet that appetite.
When it comes down to it Franklin just offers so much for just about anyone to enjoy, and if you would really love to experience that small town vibe come to Franklin in May where they host a Main Street festival where all the food and fun is brought out for all the families to see and enjoy. There is so much to see and experience you may need to plan another vacation to come see more!
