Welcome to the Ojai Valley - My Family Travels

The Ojai Valley is surrounded by mountains and hills and the small town lies among the orange and avocado orchards that surround it. Not too far to wake up for an early morning surf on the beaches of Ventura, but also able to ride up into the mountains to catch a gorgeous sunset with all sorts of pinks, oranges, and reds over the valley and the farms.

If you’re looking for a great hike through the Sespe wilderness to come across emerald water holes to take a dive in or a spiritual retreat and a visit meditation mountain, Ojai is your place to go. Ojai is also home to the best of spa’s and relaxing locations, for example, the award winning Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. Get away from a busy life and relax in their suites.

On the weekends Ojai’s local Libby park is always filled with festivals or events, like Ojai’s annual Lavender Festival or Ojai Day or concerts at the Libby bowl. Ojai’s abundance of organic and local agriculture also provides for strong, friendly, and colorful farmer’s market on Sunday mornings. After strolling through the market, trying your hand at organic veggies or a bundle of vibrant flowers, try visiting the art galleries and small businesses that surround downtown and accompany the artsy and laid-back town.

Are you interested in American-Indian culture and history? The Chumash Indians were the earliest inhabitants of the area and originally called the valley Ojai after their indigenous word for “moon.” If going on a hike through ‘White Rocks,’ there is evidence still of their culture through grinding holes on the surfaces of flat rocks and cave paintings that dwell on the walls of crevasses still telling their story. You can even visit their old ritual sites, and if you’re lucky you might even find an arrowhead made from obsidian from the Chumash.

Culture, relaxation, food, spiritual guidance, scenic hikes? Find it all in the Ojai Valley, as the townspeople welcome others to join in their festivities or loosen up in a spa with a facial. Ojai, off the coast of California is the place to be.
