Tecumseh is a small Michigan town consisting of about 8,521 residents. The name “Tecumseh” comes from the Shawnee Indian leader Chief Tecumseh. Later the city used the Indian Chief as the school mascot while also naming other things including a park called Indian Crossing Trails Park.
Tecumseh has many outdoor activities to satisfy everyone. There are over300 acres of parkland. These parks include hiking/biking trails, wildlife, and waterways. Young kids can take part in camps and sports teams offered by the Parks of Recreation and thrill-seeking adults can skydive at Skydive Tecumseh an activity that has been around for over 45 years!

While in Tecumseh you will find there is always something to do. In some of the historic buildings downtown there are small shops and restaurants with friendly staff, unique products, and delicious food. In the downtown area is an ice cream shop named Spotted Cow, which is considered by many people as the number one ice cream shop in all of Lenawee County. While eating a delicious ice cream cone you can also walk along the sidewalk admiring the beautiful sculptures done by local artists. The city of Tecumseh is just the right size. Not to overwhelming but also not boring. Downtown area there is a restaurant called Evans Street Station. Evans Street Station used to be the fire station for the city.
There is always something going on in the city of Tecumseh. During the fall there is a festival that takes place downtown Tecumseh called Appleumpkin. The festival celebrates fall harvest because that is when it takes place. Food vendors, rides, and booths selling various items cover the streets. The residents of Tecumseh all come out to enjoy the various activities going on during this festival. Other enjoyable activities that happen downtown are the Memorial Day parade and the Christmas parade. During these parades, many people stop by the local coffee shop called The Daily Grind. This is the perfect place to grab a quick snack or refreshing drink. Additional events include the Car and Bike show, Music in the Park, and even a pet parade! Another interesting place to visit would be the Antiques Mall, which was voted best antique mall in Lenawee. This shop has many unique pieces and will buy antiques.
Tecumseh is a small town with a lot of heart. So many friendly people fill the streets. Everyone is willing to lend a helping hand. Visiting Tecumseh will definitely be worth the trip because there is so much to do! On the surface Tecumseh may look like any other ordinary town but in reality, it is a town with so many activities that are sure to make anyone enjoy their stay.
