An unforgettable Journey - My Family Travels

One of the most memorable vacations I’ve had in the recent years was my trip to Yosemite National Park this summer. My family goes to Yosemite each year with Mario, my dad’s friend, and his family, but this year we also took my friend Erik, my grandma, and uncle. This vacation was memorable because it was the first time I saw a mother bear with two cubs in the woods, went camping with Erik, my grandma, and uncle. This vacation means a lot to me simply because it’s one of the only activities my family likes to do together and it also takes us out of the hot and dry city. We get to escape all the drama and problems to just relax and breathe in fresh air.

Yosemite National Park is approximately three hours away from San Francisco, CA, and about six hours away from Las Vegas, NV. The elevation in the park ranges from 4,000 feet to 9,926 feet and it has almost 800,000 acres. The average temperature in Yosemite is about ninety degrees in July through August, which is the time our family tends to go to escape Las Vegas heat. Yosemite has many trails to offer people I had the great pleasure to go in some of them for example, Lower Yosemite Falls, which is 0.5 miles of walking and Wawona Tunnel Tree trail, which is 2.2 miles. Both trails are wonderful, I really enjoyed the Wawona Tunnel Tree trail because you walk in between the giant seqouias trees. There trees are so big that they make everyone fill like an ant. There are also huge trees through out the park but not as big as in this trail.

My family really doesn’t spend time together and when we do its really hard for us to find something to do that we all agree on but we all like going camping to Yosemite. We enjoy the time with each other; as well as the time off from the city and the people that live there. This vacation means a lot to me and stands out even more because it was our first time we saw a bear and it wasn’t just any bear it was a mother bear with two cubs. Mario told us that we are very lucky because he hasn’t seen a bear and he’s been coming to Yosemite for thirty years. I was excited to see the bear with her two cubs because you don’t really see that on an everyday basis. Also, since Erik went I had a companion to bother and to walk through the trails with me instead of walking with all the grownups. My grandma and uncle made it more entertaining because they made fun of my dad.

Throughout this trip we didn’t have many problems except that my grandma wanted to leave the first day but as soon as she got used to the environment she loved it and didn’t want to come back. Taking Erik really helped me because I wasn’t bored and was able to explore more than I usually do. One thing that didn’t work well was the drive there because we had to go in the pick-up and it was really uncomfortable but the view made up for it.

This trip made me more aware of nature and how amazing it can be. You really don’t need casinos or big buildings from the cities. All you really need if your family to have a good time and to leave your problems behind. Yosemite National park is a great place to spend family time and escape all your problems you may have.
