Loews, one of the top family-welcoming boutique hotel chains, caters to family members of all ages with special amenities and discounts. According to US Travel, the share of adult leisure travelers who are traveling with children continues to rise, and nearly 39% of US grandparents have traveled with grandchildren. And, despite changes in demographics as millennials become the largest generation of travelers, family travel continues to grow as a share of leisure travel, with more than half of travelers heading to visit friends or relatives.
This isn’t news to Loews Hotels, whose 28 owned and/or managed hotels have long catered to families with innovative programs. Since 2000, the company has implemented family-welcoming programs under the broad umbrella Loews Loves Kids, and Loews Loves Pets for the family animal. And because Loews is a small chain of upscale properties, each very distinct and designed for its location, the programs are high quality and good value, although not all programs are available at all hotels.
Stylish Hotels Appeal to Young Families
Loews in the U.S. and Canada range from hip city center business hotels to beachfront resort destinations. These properties typically are high-style, upscale and four-star in quality, with the personal and idiosyncratic touches that only a small group like this can achieve. Known for their friendly service, company-wide initiatives include a ban on trans-fats in all Loews restaurants, the development of a new, more varied and healthy breakfast menu, and a business executive training program. Restaurants are stocked with lending toys for restless diners.
At Loews, families can count on comfortable rooms that are contemporary, playful, and furnished with the latest amenities, including flat screen TVs, pod coffeemakers and nice bathroom amenities. Resort facilities feature spacious pool decks, tents or cabanas, and palm-shaded terraces tended by gracious staff. All properties are handicap-friendly with accessible rooms and public facilities.
Loews Focuses on Tiny Travelers
Noting an increase in the number of new parents who bring their children on business trips, Loews provides amenities such as cribs and crib sheets, child-proofing kits, and even night-lights. Additionally, a selection of toys and books is available to borrow for children 6-months to 6-years of age.
All Kids Get a “Welcome Home” at Loews
Kids and kids at heart can benefit from new programs and amenities. Each hotel greets young guests at check in with welcome gifts for children under 10. Hotels now stock lending libraries of games, special children’s menus and Kidbanas by the pool. Most of the Loews resort hotels offer local tours, supervised recreational programs, kidscamps on property and much more. Always a first mover when it comes to family innovations, the three original Loews properties at Universal Orlando in Florida also offer themed Kids Suites with separate sleeping rooms for kids and parents. Teens can look forward to a teens-only snackbar. The chain-wide Family Concierge program guarantees that a knowledgable staff member will be on hand who’s been trained to find and make available the top local attractions and resources for children and parents visiting the property.
Family Pets are Welcome at Loews
Loews has a reputation for diversity in its employment policies, and it certainly takes a broad view of the traveling family. That’s why every “family member” is welcomed at these hotels. Guests are allowed two pets per room (children are not counted as animals for the purposes of occupancy.) When checking in, all pets receive their own gifts including a special treat. Owners get a detailed brochure with information on hotel pet services — such as the Loews Loves Pets room service menu, local dog walking routes, and area pet services, including veterinarians, pet shops, groomers, and much more. Most of their hotels can loan you pet beds, litter boxes, litter, scoopers, scratching posts, and other pet accessories. Some properties, as part of the Loews Loves Pets program, provide access to dog walkers and vets, show pet films outdoors by their pools in summer, and organize fundraisers to support animal charities. Guests with allergies should note that Loews pays special attention to the guest rooms which accommodate pets by conducting extra thorough cleaning to remove hair and other allergens. There is a fee for pet owners of $25 or more per stay, depending on hotel.
We love kids and pets, too, so this is a winning combination. To learn more about rates and current programs, call your travel agent or Loews Hotels directly at 800/235-6397.
