From One Home to Another - My Family Travels
DSC02550

I’ve loved traveling since I was little and my mom and aunt took me to Colorado. My favorite road trip, however, is the one we take most summers from the panhandle of Florida, where we currently live, to New Hampshire, where we used to live. Its only a two day drive but we like to take our time each time we go. We try to take different routes and pass through small towns that way we can see the scenery.

We stop in North Carolina to stay the night with some family then continue on to Virginia to stay with more family. We avoid big cities especially if we have been there before and stick to smaller highways. When we finally reach New Hampshire it is usually the weekend for the Old Home Day Parade / Carnival. Its a lot of fun because all my old friends are gathered in the same area and I can see most of my very large family. While staying in New Hampshire I can see my father, brother, sisters, cousins, aunt and uncles, etc.

The last trip we made I went on a hike with my father, his girlfriend, and my little brother. I’d never been to the location so it was a new experience. I don’t recommend taking a road trip to a lot of world famous landmarks. The fun is in the little things. If you go through a small town you may find something random like a drive-through convenience store, like the one in Graceville, Florida, or a statue of Elvis in front of a gas station. If you have some family living several states away, go visit them.

Take the scenic route. Trying to plan every stop is boring. If you used to live somewhere else, you should absolutely go home. I love this trip because I can be reminded of the place I came from and all the memories from my childhood. Who says you can’t go home?
