First off, I live in an urbanized area in central Pomona. A lot of people who live closely, and/or hear upon news stories that Pomona may be a dangerous/unhealthy place to visit; but I disagree. I have lived in Pomona for the past 10+ years, and I have an entirely different perspective on the description given. When I grew up, this city was a gigantic domain of all races living in one. As time passed though, the city grew smaller and smaller, and smaller… or so I thought, but it had only been me growing up and exploring my city even more. Pomona, even though small and not too many "popular" attractions, holds some of the most cultural events I can possibly think of. Pomona is the goddess of fruit, and we respect the fact that we have such a name to call our city. One of the most well-known attractions in our city though, is the respective columns of artists that gather here for the monthly Art Walk. It's a time when all art-related things go on, whether you are an artist yourself or just appreciating artwork, here's the place to come! Outdoor activities, resturants, fast food places and bars all open during this event makes it worth coming to! We have art galleries all along the streets of downtown Pomona, and along with that are a good handful of elementaries, junior highs, highschools and colleges that are full of scholars who aspire to be the next doctors, lawyers and teachers of our generation. Many scholars who have went big started in places (cities) just like this one. Small, yet going far! Pomona is not only known for that though, there are many places that you can go, one of the most well-known that occurs yearly, the L.A. county fair! You cannot go to visit a place, and not participate in the yearly fair that thousands beyong thousands attend! There is cultural events, and activities after activities, after activities that occur! Pomona is a great place to visit, even though there isn't much to do in the actual city unless it's a time of the year that something is planned; there are several cities surrounding it that are just as amazing. In most, a lot of shops and plazas, all of which you can buys tons of things from; buy a souviner t-shirt even! There are also malls and small places that people can just go to in order to "hang out". So, if a person is craving some nice, warm weather and nice places to sight-see and have a great time, Pomona is the place!
