To the untrained eye, downtown Waukesha, Wisconsin may look like bright colored buildings and classic facades. However, behind the scenes, Waukesha is arising as a playground for its' 70,000 residents. In the past few years, the people of my city have taken back our downtown strip, and turned it into a truly perfect place to spend a Saturday night.
During your stay in Waukesha you can experience the city as I do, a resident since the day I was born. Once you look a little closer at Waukesha, you may never want to leave!
One of the most important details in Waukesha is obviously where you're going to stay. Located right in the center of everything, The Clarke Hotel is the perfect place for you to experience Waukesha. The Hotel sits on the northern side of "5 points", a 5-way intersection in Downtown. With just a look out of your luxurious suite window, you can see every parade and festival, as well as our beautiful small town skyline. The Clarke Hotel is not only the center of your experience, but also a popular place to hangout. Accompanied by a 4-star restaurant and wine cellar, The Hotel is perfect for formal get togethers during your stay in Waukesha.
The next most important detail of your stay in Waueksha is where you eat! One of the local favorites,a nd my highest recommendation, is Peoples' Park. The casual, three-story restaurant is located just one block from your room at The Clarke Hotel, and is the perfect way to spend any summer night. People's Park features the only rooftop dining in Downtown Waukesha, making guests feel as if they're dining right over the city! Unique twists on classic burgers and sandwiches make People's Park a must-see in Waukesha!
The final attraction you must be a part of in Wuakesha is Friday Night Live/ Guitar Town! Friday Night Live is a music and food festival thats put on every Friday between April and October. Featuring local bands, Friday Night Live is a great way to Do as the Wisconsinites Do (Excuse the pun) and meet new people. Most restaurants feature open booths so you can even stop by Peoples' Park again!
In 2012, Waukesha decided to further embrace our small claim to fame as the birthplace of Les Paul! Waukesha became an American Guitar Town, featuring twenty 10-foot ceramic guitars decorated by our school and local artists to add unique charm to our city. By embracing and advertising our heritage, the Guitar Town has brought residents of Waukesh closer together through celebration of the arts and music!
