I am from Hawaii. No, I do not go to the beach everyday. No, I do not live in a grass hut. And, no, not everyone here can do the hula. Those are the answers to a few of the questions I get asked whenever I tell someone where I live. I get asked many questions about my home. However, the one question that I love to answer is "Why should I visit Hawaii?" There are three main reasons that I give as to why you should visit Hawaii.
First, come for the weather. Hawaii definitely has some of the best weather on the planet. Sunny skies, nice trade winds, and the average temperature is reported to be "seventy degrees and sunny." The weather here is perfect for anyone to just lay down on a nice beach chair and just relax. Second, come for the food! When you come for vacation and you want a real "taste" of the islands, there's no better way to do this than to actually have the food here. Hawaii is a melting pot of many different cultures. The tastes of the far east meet the tastes of the modern west here. There's something here for everyone, from the classic American cheeseburger with some Polynesian twists on it, to traditional Japanese food that will teach you some history of Japanese Culture. Third, come for the atmosphere. Hawaii has a little bit of everything, cities, rural areas, rain forests, and of course the beach. However, I believe that what makes Hawaii worth visiting is not just the weather or the food, what makes Hawaii worth visiting is the friendly atmosphere. Here in Hawaii we have a saying, "Live Aloha," this saying reflects the attitude of the islanders. Aloha, is our greeting, this word means hello, it can also mean goodbye, but the meaning of Aloha in this saying is "to love." "Live Aloha," means to live your life expressing love to those around you. This simple statement is ingrained in the way the locals treat each other and visitors. There is such a strong sense of community and friendliness that visitors will be drawn to. When you visit here whether it be your first time, or your hundredth time, the locals will always make you feel like family. I believe that this mind set and attitude is what really makes Hawaii unique and worth visiting.
Why should someone visit Hawaii? Well, come for the weather. Beautiful skies and cool breezes are the perfect combination for any vacation. Come for the food, you can relax and know that you will be well fed by the time you leave Hawaii. But most of all, come for the atmosphere, we will treat you like family and when you leave you'll be missing Hawaii like it was home. Hawaii, is a place where everyone can come to relax and have fun, because here you are family.
