Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is known as the "City of Bridges" and famous for it's delicious Heinz Ketchup. It is also where I have grown up and I have certainly grown to love it. I know that "yinz" will too! We are really big on sports here in Sixburgh (the only city with six Superbowl victories), so a few places you must check out are Heinz Field, PNC Park, and the new Consol Energy Center, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, respectively.
If you are not a sporty kind of person or you root for other teams (as long as it's not the Flyers!), then you may be more interested in spending your day at one of the other many fun attractions this city has to offer. Some great family activities include visiting Kennywood Amusement Park, Sandcastle Water Park, Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, Carnegie Science Center and SportsWorks; or, if you are visiting in the winter, you and your family may choose to spend the day ice skating around the Christmas tree in PPG Place.
If these sporty or active options still don't seem enjoyable to you, maybe you're looking for the art and history aspect that the city has to offer. You can stop by Carnegie Museum of Art & Natural History, the Andy Warhol Museum, the Cathedral of Learning, or learn about the Revolutionary War right where it took place, at the Fort Pitt Museum.
After spending a busy day in the city, you are bound to work up an appetite! Visit Primanti Brothers for a sandwich topped with French fries and coleslaw, served the Pittsburgh way! If you're not big on different foods touching, then you may want to head up the Duquesne Incline to enjoy a great view of the Monongahela, Allegheny, and Ohio Rivers while you have a delicious meal in one of Mount Washington's many eateries.
Pittsburgh is great because there are so many different activities that people with different interests are able to enjoy. I love it here and I hope you learn to love Pittsburgh as well, for all of the amazing history, architecture, art, sports, food, and fun activities that make it unique.
