The smoke is rising in the air, the aroma of barbecue cooking on the grill, generously you apply your favorite barbecue sauce while looking out on to the water. Want to know where I am talking about? Flying Point Park in Kennord Ave, Edgewood, MD. A free recreational park located in Hartford county.
It is the perfect place for a peaceful country get away. Local hotels and motels are easily accessible in town, or you can ride down to Maryland in your own RV. One of the things that Maryland is most known for is it’s beautiful water. Flying Point Park truly lives up to that expectation. From any angle in the park you get an awesome view of the blue water with the sun shining down on it.
If you’re looking for that extra Maryland culture, you can buy local Maryland crabs from local seafood stores right there in Hartford county. There is nothing better than a Maryland crab. The breaking of the hard shell, the smell of freshly cooked meat as you open the exterior, then the delicious chewy flesh of the crab just calling your name. It is out of this world!!
Another fun activity is jet skiing, yes, you have to bring your own jet skis but believe you me, you won’t regret it. Just imagine the cool breeze on your face as you speed across the water with out a care in the world. That is perfect enough! If the jet skis are not enough for you, there is a boat launch where anyone is welcome to bring their boat and set sail!
The main feature of the Park is the beautiful 16.7 acres waterfront. Pavilions are available but reservations are required for the weekend. During the weekdays it is first come first served. There is also an excellent playground for the young children or the young at heart to enjoy! Restrooms and parking are both available on site and parking is free ( that should make either mommy or daddy happy! )
Park hours from Memorial Day weekend through end of September is 8:00am-8:00pm weekdays; weekends 7:00am-8:00pm. Office hours are 9:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday. For more information on this perfect family park or directions from your current location, you can call the office at 410-612-1608 or you can visit their website at http://www.harfordcountymd.gov/parks_rec/Park.cfm?ParkID=47. Come and enjoy what some of Maryland has to offer you and your family!!
