Congratulations to all our 2018 FTF Teen Travel Writing Scholarship applicants.

12th annual merit competition draws more than 1,000 applicants submitting travel tales.

We in the Family Travel Forum community and all of our travel industry partners want to congratulate the winners of the 2018 FTF Teen Travel Writing Scholarship and all who participated.

We are so impressed by your vivid descriptions of nature, appreciation of cultural diversity and thoughtful observations about human nature.

Your eloquence made judging a long and tough process.

As you may know, between May 1 and July 9, more than 1,000 students in US, Canada, American-International schools or homeschools applied to blog about a travel experience.

Scholarship winners were selected from the top 1% scoring blogs by a team of professional educators from the Journalism Education Association (JEA), writers from SATW, and representatives from the Society of Professional Journalists, and Tourism Cares, the charitable arm of the travel and tourism industry.

Finalist essays, which are published on MyFamilyTravels.com, were judged on creativity and eloquence; a sense of place; emotional impact; vocabulary and style; and grammar, punctuation and spelling. Sadly, only 3 cash prize winners and 20 Honorable Mentions could be honored this year when all your work was so worthy.

Please Thank our Sponsors

The generous sponsorship of Allianz Global Assistance USA, ScholarTrips, Travel Media Showcase, TMS Family Travel, Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), CityPASS and Lonely Planet made the 12th annual scholarship possible.

“Providing students with an opportunity to learn through travel creates greater opportunities for them to succeed in life and have a better understanding of global cultures and ideas,” says Daniel Durazo, director of marketing and communications for Allianz Global Assistance USA.

“Allianz Global Assistance is dedicated to protecting and helping travelers wherever they may go.  We’re also happy to be able to help students explore their world," Durazo adds, "and we’re thrilled to support both the FTF Teen Travel Writing Scholarship and our very own ScholarTrips program.”

We encourage all of you to apply to the Scholartrips program, which is accepting submissions this year from Oct. 5 - Nov. 9, 2018.

Best of luck to you all and thank you for being a part of the 2018 #TTWScholarship.

Congratulations to the 2018 winners of the Family Travel Forum Teen Travel Writing Scholarship.
