Does Deer Valley Resort meet your family's ski expectations and is it worth the premium tariff? Family Travel Forum investigates.
Deer Valley in Park City, Utah delivers a deluxe ski experience that pampers guests with posh accommodations and gourmet food. The resort’s philosophy that the details make the difference is everywhere— ski valets care for your skis as you park your car; overnight boot warmers insure that your feet stay toasty; and magnificent timbered day lodges offer low-cal haute cuisine.
Visitors fly into Salt Lake City airport and make the easy 45-minute drive or shuttle to Park City, where the resort is located. Deer Valley Resort’s accommodations and services are centered in three areas: Empire Canyon, uppermost mountain; Silver Lake, mid-mountain; and Snow Park, at the base.
If you’re feeling flush, stay in Silver Lake’s famous hostelries, such as the Goldener Hirsch or Stein Erikson’s Lodge, which offer some of the most luxurious ski-in ski-out lodging on the continent. Snow Park is known for its large and lavish condominiums, and all three areas have tony restaurants and chic boutiques.
The skiing is an intermediate’s dream, with broad rolling boulevards of meticulously manicured snow. Beginners and experts have plenty of terrain to sample, too. The children’s ski school and daycare are centered in a spacious, colorful facility in the Snow Park area, and the staff is serious about making sure kids have a good time while they learn to ski.
Snowboarding is not permitted; most riders go to Park City Mountain Resort or The Canyons just a few miles away.
