The Ultimate Times Square Dining Experience - My Family Travels

As a local, I have eaten in a ton of New York City Restaurants, but up until recently, I have never had the pleasure to eat in Times Square.  Okay, yes, I have grabbed a hot dog or quick slice at a local joint, so I guess the more correct phrasing should be: I have never dined in style in Times Square.

Just last month I had the pleasure to spend the night at the Residence Inn Times Square.  Located at 39th Street and 6th Avenue, the extended stay hotel offers great views of Bryant Park, free hot morning breakfast and even has a kitchenette in every one of the spacious suites.  Plus the hotel also has free in-room Wi-Fi.  It is also within walking distance of the heart of New York City’s Times Square; so Marriott, being the gracious host that it always is, took my group out to dinner at its sister-property the Renaissance Times Square.

Within this more up-scale hotel is the Two Times Square Restaurant & Lounge.  With glass windows, this eatery offers breathtaking panoramic views of Times Square, the likes of which I have never seen before.  We enjoyed our meal with a glimpse of the busiest streets of Manhattan right below us.

The view is so spectacular that the Marriott representatives joining us leaked the secret that the restaurant is serving as the setting for Samantha’s office in the new “Sex and the City 2” movie!

Thus, it is the perfect spot for a pre- or post-theater dining experience and Two Times Square is also a staple of hotel guests.  The lights of Times Square shine brightly into the restaurant as the attentive wait-staff serves up Contemporary American cuisine.

I really cheesed myself out during this meal having French Onion Soup loaded with creamy and delicious gruyere cheese and yummy sourdough croutons.  Then for my main course, you would think since I was already on cheese overload, that I would have stayed away, but no… I continued on my quest for cheese with the Baked Ziti with sausage, eggplant and peas smothered in mozzarella.  For dessert I was tempted to go with the cheesecake, but opted for some light cookies instead.  A smart choice, capped off with a lovely decaffeinated coffee.

Then it was quick (very quick!) cab ride back to the Residence Inn where I slept like a baby with my view of the Grace Building from my comfy bed.
