When was the last time you took your kids out in the nature? Studies show that children that have been constantly going out of town on weekends have way less respiratory problems, show reduced asthma symptoms, higher ability in learning and memorizing, have an increased appetite, more overall strength and generally feel happier than children who never leave the city.

Chapada Diamantina is a big national park located in the heart of Bahia, a state in the North East of Brazil. The place was kept secret for many years to prevent diamond smuggling, but the spectacular scenery opened the region to tourism.

You can experience the park in many forms: trekking, swimming, bike riding, diving. There’s just so much to see! Caves, waterfalls, picturesque sceneries, underground lakes, rivers, amazing flora and fauna. Chapada Diamantina will leave you enchanted!

The two most famous places on Chapada Diamantina are Lençois and Vale Do Capão, the first one being the “chic” one and the latter being the smaller, cozier one, with only 1500 inhabitants, all working Chapada Diamantina alternative eco tourism.

There are many Pousadas in Chapada Diamantina and Vale do Capão. Camp sites, private housing and mountain inns. Be sure to check out the Pousada Nós Na Trilha, located only 1.5km from the center, having 5 apartments perfect for a romantic getaway, or a family holiday. Most of the pousadas in Vale do Capão are built in an alternative style with alternative materials, always having the permaculture principles in mind.
