The plane had just landed in Sunny California, and I felt my body go numb with excitement, as it would for a child on Christmas morning. As I stepped off the plane, I could feel the heat stick to me and the smell of humidity floating through the air. Traveling through the airport was the beginning of my Californian adventure. The amount of people present for maybe a visitation, or a business trip was astounding. I was here with my father for a family wedding. My cousin was getting married in San Diego two days from the time I stepped off of the airplane.
As my dad and I sped down the busy, traffic filled highways of Anaheim, California in the small gold, Kia Rio we had rented; the tall palm trees, lush green grass and large reflective buildings rushed passed us as if in rapid motion. As we reached our exit I could feel the excitement building up inside me as the realization came to mind that I was finally here. I was in Anaheim, California. As we pulled up to the hotel that we would be staying in the next few days, Woodfin Suites to be exact, I could hear and feel the ocean everywhere around me. I followed my dad into the hotel room and looked out the window. The view was beautiful but I could not wait to experience it for myself. Later that night, as we drove around on the busy roads, the lights of the Southern California night reflected in my eyes and a feeling of tranquility rushed over me. We turned to head back to the hotel, and when we arrived, the thought of the next day put me to a deep sleep.
The following morning, my dad and I woke up mid morning and headed straight to the beach. As we pulled up, I could see and hear the deep blue waves crashing into the shore turning to a fluffy white foam, floating away to be recycled into a brand new wave. The sight was riveting, and I ran towards the water like a little child. As I splashed into the waves, the warm Pacific Ocean enveloped my legs and threw me into the deep blue. As I emerged from the water, I could feel the drops fall from my face and evaporate into the warm California air. The experience of feeling the water, smelling the salty mist and breathing in the fresh, crisp air was the experience of a lifetime. The exhilaration of being on the beauteous California beach had my whole world feeling absolutely unbreakable. I knew that I had a wonderful experience ahead of me.
As the time came to leave sunny California, I said goodbye to the sandy beaches, the skyscraping palm trees and even the grey and white seagulls. The past few days had been everything I had been dreaming about. The wind on my face and in my hair was one of the many accessories to Anaheim, California. Although Anaheim had many attractions, what made the trip was the magical feeling that was whisked around in the bright skies. The excitement and the feeling that just makes one want to smile all the time. To the next person hoping to meet California, keep a smile on your face and you will be the happiest person on Earth.
