When people think of the ocean they may think of the sand and water, while others may have images of horrifying shark attacks. Every thought of the beach was terrifyingly scary but I was sure it would pass. On every trip we take as a family we drive even if would have taken us 2 days. From our small house in the suburbs of Kentucky to the great Atlantic in Virginia Beach, Virginia was a quick 12 hour drive. To me the car rides are my favorite, you are close to people and you get to have your own fun by singing song and laughing. This trip I was extremely luck to have my best friend to come along with us.
Finally when we have arrived my parent took us to breakfast to the Log Cabin on the boardwalk. The Log Cabin had amazing pancakes and the cutest little waffles on their buffet. After we had breakfast we had to be at the Gold Key Resort Center, but we had time to kill so my best friend and I ended up walking to the beach. As soon as we took off our sandals and started to walk the way the sand fit to our feet felt incredible. At that second I knew the fear of sharks has past. I was ready to tackle the sea.
We finally got to go to our hotel; The Comfort Inn and Suites Ocean front, the people that worked in that hotel were so friendly. In fact everyone in Virginia Beach was kind and friendly. Every night was an adventure with many shops and restaurants to visit. Each night we would go to dinner on the boardwalk and then we would walk around and look in the different shops. On one night we ended up not eating on the boardwalk but at the No Frill Bar and Grill. From the outside you wouldn’t think that it would be as nice as it was inside. The outside looked like a retro dinner but once you walk in it becomes and elegant restaurant.
The best thing at Virginia Beach would have to be the fact that you can spend every day at the beach and feel the waves knock you off your feet, seeing dolphins less then a mile way from the shore, and enjoy amazing food. As well as see amazing thing that may not be possible in your home town such as climbing a lighthouse or tour an active naval battleship or take a cruise around a harbor and naval base. The Natucas Museum has an active battleship the US Wisconsin witch you are able to tour, as next to the museum is a navel base cruise.
After my trip to Virginia Beach When I think of the ocean I will always think of waves crashing on the tan colored sand against my sand covered toes. The fear of sharks has disappeared with the joy of dolphins leaping out of the water. Out of all the trips we have taken all have there own special aspect but this trip has out ranked them all. Virginia Beach, Virginia has changed my aspect of people and the different places in the United States.
