I went to James Madison University this summer and it meant everything to me. First of all because I was finally accepted to be part of the program called the College Success program. I met amazing people all with different ethnicity and personality. The relationship among the group built stronger and stronger each day in just a short amount of time. Everything worked out because we had activities planned for each day. Sometimes it didn’t work well as planned when there were delays like showing up visitors, nature and others. W had to switch activities or shorten the duration of the activities. It still worked out perfectly. The purpose of this trip was for us to experience college life as well as getting prepared for the upcoming school year. Things I learned from the trip were history especially the maps, chemistry and other courses for a little preview. We learned a lot about college life on campus, the importance of education, scholarships and many more. Having a college education will increase your job opportunities, better lifestyle, expansion of knowledge and etc. I also learned about the importance of volunteering and giving back. We volunteered doing community service at the homeless shelter sponsored by the Salvation Army. This whole experience was life changing. I became more confident, take life more seriously, giving back, make smart goals and became a hard worker.
