On January 25, 2012, my boyfriends family and I went to San Antonio, Texas by plane to see my boyfriend graduate from USAF Basic Military Training. We arrived at the San Antonio International Airport and rented a car so we could go to our reserved hotel. Once we made it to La Quinta, we were very hungry and enjoyed Denny's infront of the hotel. Later on that day, the river walk mall was a street away and we enjoyed looking around. It became late and so we came back to the hotel to get some sleep before the big day. January 26, 2012 was the day of the Airman's Run and the day we were going to see my boyfriend for the first time after two whole months. We were so anxious and excited that this day has finally came. We drive to Lackland Air Force Base at 6:30 am and try to find a parking spot. The breifing was at 7AM and we had missed it due to lack of parking spots.
After that, we headed outside to where to run was going to be located at. Standing out in the freezing weather for 40 minutes, the Airman Basics finally came. We cheered and screamed for everyone as they sang jodies and we were waiting for our Airman to run before our eyes. Once I saw the red sweaters I got excited and started searching for him. I missed him the first time but thank goodness they ran twice and I looked at him as he was running. What made me happy was that he looked back at me.
After that was over we sat at the bleachers for the Coin Ceremony to start. Once I saw everyone in their ABU's I got even more excited. The ceremony was beautiful and it took about 30 minutes. Once it was over, I hear them say "Okay everyone, come meet your Airmen", I ran down the bleachers and ran to my man and we gave each other the biggest hug and kiss for the first time in 8 and a half weeks. I was finally complete again. We went to a place called the main BX and enjoyed some chinese food. He was given base liberty so we were enjoying the scenery while we still had the time. On January 27, 2012, the real graduation and parade had came. Bright and early at 8AM we drove to the graduation ground and waited for it to begin. So many brave men and women in uniform outstanded me and others. To finish it up, they said the Airman's Creed and were told to stand at attention until they were tapped out.
After we were with my Airman again, we left the base for some town liberty and enjoyed our time at the mall and River Walk. We also visited The Alamo, Ripley's Believe it or Not and Chili's. Overall, it was the best day ever. Saturday came and there was no waiting. We picked up my boyfriend from Lackland at 9 am and we went to the mall again and enjoyed eating at Applebee's.
After having a great time again, another day came to an end. Once January 29, 2012 came, we all became sad because this was our last day at Texas. We picked up my boyfriend from the base again and enjoyed our last meal at IHOP. We went to Target after and back to Lackland. We waked around the base and enjoyed the Museum they have. After eating some Baskin Robbins, I knew our lovely time has came to an end. We say goodbye and wait for him to be done with Tech School that took 3 months. I will never forget my 4 day vacation at Lackland AFB San Antonio, Texas. My favorite part was hugging him for the first time. This is only one of our memories we have together and I know we'll have many more to come now that he is an Airman First Class.
