I sit in my living room finding myself staring at the glistening lights of our deep green Christmas tree daydreaming of how my first trip to Colorado will be like. My mother and I took our flight December 26 2008, the day after Christmas. The plane ride was long, and cramped, but by the time I got to Denver it was definitely worth it. I saw glistening snow as far as the eye could see on top of building tops, and in the far distance the glimpse of the mountains where my cousins lived. We arrived at our cousins deep red house in Gypsum that was two stories with long windows to outlook the Colorado River, and all pine trees. I knew that those two weeks would be an amazing new journey for me to experience.
Aunt Debra was always the planner, and she set up things for us to do every day. The first day we were there my cousin, Jamie introduced me to all her friends, and everyone there was extremely nice, and welcoming. Later Debra planned for us to head up the famous Denver Gondolas. We all headed up there and there were so many neat shops to go in, not including the skate rink, and restaurants. We all had a blast, and afterward had a steaming hot chocolate at the Denny’s so conveniently located down the hill. Every day for those two weeks we went out to indoor skate rinks and pools to riding on snowmobiles in mountains.Although my aunt can overdo on always planning things every minute, we all had an amazing time .
My trip to Colorado was incredible, I enjoyed so many different experiences and new things, and I couldn’t wait to go back. I went from my comfortable same old self not trying new things, to trying everything and being very outgoing and risky. The distinguishing characteristics of the environment was stunning ranging from there beautiful lakes to there snowcapped mountains. The atmosphere of the people were so welcoming , and sociable it really made you feel like you fit right in. In my overall experience to Colorado I recommend this journey to everybody, and I discovered that one day I would like to live in this beautiful state that I once traveled to.
