Fun in the Florida Sun - My Family Travels

Last winter I went on one of my most exciting adventures, a vacation with my Grandma to Florida.

Every year my Grandma makes the long drive from Michigan to Florida to spend the winter in her house there. Luckily for me she decided to take me along to spend a couple weeks with her. Not only did I get to spend a couple weeks of the cold winter in the Florida sun, but I also got to go to some new places and meet new people.

The car ride to Florida was an adventure in itself. We took a route along the Appalachian mountains, which sure was a gorgeous sight. We also found a little snow along the way, which we weren't pleased with, but that didn't slow us down as it only took us two days to reach my Grandma's house. Two days spent bonding in the car, talking about everything and anything.

Once we arrived at my Grandma's we relaxed for the night and then spent the next day cleaning up the house and settling in. Later we took a swim at the pool and I met some of her Florida pals. We ended the night with a movie and went to sleep fairly early.

Throughout the next couple days we spent time with friends and went to a few antique stores. We also did some shopping and more swimming at the pool. The days that we spent at the ocean were some of my favorites though, and even though the water was chilly it didn't phase me!

Some of my other favorite adventures was going for hikes and by far my favorite day was the day we went to SeaWorld in Orlando. SeaWorld was a thrilling experience because I got to see animals I wouldn't see at the zoo in my home state. I got to pet dolphins and stingrays and watched the dolphin and orca shows. It was also great to share this experience with my Grandma, since we both love animals. It is a day I'll truly never forget. I enjoyed every minute of SeaWorld, even getting wet on the Atlantis ride! It was one of the most fascinating places I've ever been to, filled with all kinds of exciting and intriguing animals. My favorite animal was the dolphin, because they seemed so human-like in their intelligence and ability to interact with each other and their human caretakers.

SeaWorld was one of my greatest and last adventures in Florida because soon after this adventure I was experiencing a new challenge, flying home on an airplane by myself.

Flying home proved to not be too challenging, but it was pretty nerve wracking passing through security and getting my bags on the plane, however, once I got on, it was much more relaxing. Actually the 2 hour flight seemed to fly by as soon as we got in the air. Except for a few delays when we went to land, everything went smoothly.

Overall my trip to Florida was a wonderful experience. There were some times when my Grandma and I got on each others nerves, but it's only human nature to want to be by yourself sometimes and the good times outweighed the bad by far. My Grandma and I shared a lot of special moments and got to see some truly amazing nature. It was so great that I didn't even want to go home, however, once I saw my parents waiting for me outside the airport I was glad to be back, even though I was back in Michigan and had to bundle up.

It sounds like a statement that emphasizes the importance of adults having access to things that are valuable. It could be interpreted as a reminder that adults should not be denied the opportunity to enjoy things that are considered precious or valuable. It’s a good reminder that everyone deserves to have access to things that bring them joy and happiness, regardless of their age.

Great place for kids. My 2 and 4 year old tried every water slide, pool, and toy. They loved the beach as well with the calm, warm waters. It was far from a relaxing trip but this one was all about the kids.

I live in Jacksonville and there is no longer a ‘lively waterfront’. The shops and restaurants were demolished after a mass shooting at one of the establishments. Head to the beach not downtown!! There is a lovely historic district called Avondale/Riverside area. It is absolutely beautiful with shops and restaurants and a beautiful park with a kick a** playground! The neighborhoods sit on the St John’s River. The old homes are big and beautiful. I walk that area regularly and have lived there. Stunning!!!

I agree with every word in this blog, I tried to travel to Saudi Arabia with this topic in mind. I thought a lot about choosing a sustainable activity. So I texted Ootlah website to ask them about sustainable activities and they recommended enjoying the desert in Jeddah, which causes almost no harm to the environment. I booked and tried it and it was significant.
