My family moved to the United States in 2007, indeed that was one of my exciting moments in my life. Before we moved to the United States, my family lived in a little valley on the countryside in Korea. We happened to move out from my house and immigrate to the United States. From that point my whole life changed.
My first trip to Orlando was phenomenal because that was the first time I have stayed in a hotel and played in a hotel pool. My great aunt who has lived here for more than twenty years guided us to Orlando, Florida. The number one reason was to show us Disneyworld.

The trip was not as long as I wished to be but I got to see a whole different world. The place where I lived was a province; I had lived there for ten years of my life and had no idea what America was alike. I had heard all positive things about the United States and the coming to the U.S. was my dream.
When I stepped into the Disney world, I was stunned! It was more than I imagined. All the Disney characters I knew were there. The buildings were amazing, especially the Cinderella Castle. My family and I had really nice time with my great aunt in Orlando. We walked a lot and got to see parades, fireworks, and Disney characters. The fireworks at night were amazing; I never saw fireworks that were colorfully enriching. What I most remember in Disney world is Magic Kingdom Park where I saw that huge fireworks and a Tinker Bell, who flew down to the audience. My little brother and sister loved that part even though they had no idea where they were.
When we came back from the trip we were so tired. The first step into the hotel was such an excitement. Since I never been to hotel like this in America, everything looked interesting to me, I was walking around to see the hotel. Later in the evening we went outside to enjoy the outdoor pool. Unfortunately it started to rain so my brothers and I were forced to go inside with my great aunt. I was disappointed since we never played in a big pool before. When we came back from the pool, my great aunt asked my brother to get an extra key for the room and I followed my brother. For us, it was the first time talking to Americans. At that time we didn’t know any English, I didn’t know how to speak English except “hello”. I didn’t say a single word but somehow my older brother did get the key! That was quiet impressive and we were happy on our way back.
Orlando trip with my family was such great experience. I realized this trip made me study hard on English as my second language and the memories from the trip helped me in many ways in the United States. I learned there are so many beautiful places to go and I promised to myself, “I will come back here when I graduate from college.”

Great place for kids. My 2 and 4 year old tried every water slide, pool, and toy. They loved the beach as well with the calm, warm waters. It was far from a relaxing trip but this one was all about the kids.

I live in Jacksonville and there is no longer a ‘lively waterfront’. The shops and restaurants were demolished after a mass shooting at one of the establishments. Head to the beach not downtown!! There is a lovely historic district called Avondale/Riverside area. It is absolutely beautiful with shops and restaurants and a beautiful park with a kick a** playground! The neighborhoods sit on the St John’s River. The old homes are big and beautiful. I walk that area regularly and have lived there. Stunning!!!
