The World's Capital as some of the townspeople often jokingly nickname the tiny village, is located on the outskirts of a big city in northern Mexico, La Villita. A city no bigger than that of its neighboring village is seperated to any surrounding region simply because of its crazy fun and cultural annual church celebration. As the rain season of July approaches the population more than doubles and overtakes the usually calmer streets. And so the celebration begins, the narrow stone built streets flood with food and clothing stands. Vibrant banners swing from across each home and roller-coasters start setting up amongst every other street corner.

Runners dressed in white sprint from afar passing on torches to the next in line as they run to the orange brick paved church for inaguration. They bring the light as to be the symbol of the town's early beginnings, of its foundation. After the religious ceremony the crowds huddle in masses and sit through performances eagerly awaiting for the fireworks spectacle soon to begin. Huge man-made firework welded symbols rise in the skies the shapes of hearts, birds, and even messages. People slowly back away and the children run to hide as the occasional sparks fire in their direction. And then comes the symbolic running of the bulls as a local dresses in a firework suit shaping a bull equipped with circling wheels and everything as the night is to begin.
Then is the exploring of the stands, food piled on top of even more food surrounds everything from music to stands selling hand-painted ceramic pots. Musical groups coupled with guitars and trumpets walk about here and there behind the masses. The occasional lover asks the musical groups for their accompanying to serenate some lucky girl. As the trail of people turn up by the town's playround , yet another musical group all dressed to combine can be seen on a platform above everyone. People sway to the beat of the music and couples turn and swing at the change of pace. The sky may bear rain showers but none of that can stop the sound of the trumpets or of feet stomping with rhythm. This is La Villita, the land of joy and humble warmth where people will offer you only the best of their fruits of labor or merely a heart-felt good evening.
