A suburban town outside the big city of Houston doesn't seem like a great tourist attraction, but once one starts to get to know the town, they fall in love with it. Whether you're visiting a family member, just passing through, or simply just lost- curiosity takes control and the atmosphere of the Texan town of Kingwood invites you in. The tall trees with luscious green leaves, the friendly faces out and about, and the sound of cars and birds chirping simultaneously all bring in the balanced sense of nature and urbanization.

Anyone can feel the safety this place holds, like a bubble containing all that is precious. Within this bubble, families can be made and bonds can be built, because of all the activities and adventures that the forested community beholds. Children are left to explore the hidden secrets the town is framed with; the rope swing that teens before them built on the east end of the lake, the ashes left behind from the outstanding bonfires, and the tree house made from real blood, sweat, and tears of young men and women leaving their footprint behind to be discovered by generations to come. The lake -West Lake Houston- is perfect for immense amounts of recreational fun like fishing, canoeing, kayaking, boating, and just flat-out swimming (beware of snakes and alligators though!). Not to mention the bike trails that last for miles all along the lake and lead to the lakefront restaurants, cafes, and wineries that exude romantic ambiance. There is even a lighted pier that is within walking distance from the restaurants for those lovely dates or mother's day outings. If someone is looking to be more social there is always something going on every weekend in town center, i.e. music festivals, car shows, and the weekly farmer's market, and there are always events posted on the Kingwood website (Kingwood.com). There are also other great restaurants around the area of all sorts, such as New York Pizzeria, Hunan's Garden, Texas Roadhouse, and endless more. If you eventually find yourself bored with the suburbia and decide its time for a change of scenery, the city is merely a thirty minute drive away, which is also one of the largest cities in not only Texas, but out of the entire United States as well… If the city is not what you're looking for, then there are old country towns next door for some more outdoor entertainment, and the Galveston beach is only a 75 mile trip from home. In other words, my community – Kingwood, Texas – may not be the absolute best for touring, but its the most ideal town one can live in with hopes to raise a family and to feel safe and comfortable, while still having plenty of options to go out and have fun.
