When on vacation what is it that you look for? Solitude, excitement, historical features, food, or just to get away? When choosing a vacation destination Bridgeport, California has it all. This small little town has as much to do to keep you busy for a week, if not longer. With its simple main street everything you would like to enjoy is not far from where you begin. There are many things to enjoy including lakes and rivers for fishing, or swimming, historical sites for the history buff in your life, great food, and a lot of wildlife in their natural habitats.
When getting out of your hometown for a while a visit to Bridgeport can offer you two types of accommodations; normal small town motels, and camping. If you’re from a city I would try camping just to get the feel of how it is. While camping you have the choice between smaller more secluded campgrounds, or our more populated campground such as Annette’s Mono Village or Doc and Al’s Resort. Both are just minutes from lakes and streams.
If you are looking for excitement a great time to visit Bridgeport would be during the 4thof July. During this time our town is flooded with people from all over visiting to watch the parade, or the rodeo. They walk up and down the streets looking at all that the small vendors have to offer and they even take part in karaoke on out courthouse lawn. There is always something for all ages, for kids bounce house like attractions, teenagers, mud volleyball, adults enjoy the music and everything else this town has. At the end of the day there is a spectacular fireworks display.
For the historical side in you we have our courthouse, which happens to be the county seat for Mono County. We also have a small hotel that was originally a building built in the ghost town of Bodie. Not only do we have these but we have our own museum which tells you a little bit about the history of the town. We are also just miles from the historic ghost town of Bodie, where you can walk around and see what is left of the place where there was very rich gold mines.
If food is what you’re searching for you would have to look no further than Bridgeport, we have it all. If you’re looking for a good quick burger you could walk up to either Jolly Kone or the Barn, both of which serve great quick food and ice cream. If you want pizza you could try Rhino’s or the Virginia Creek Settlement. Great steaks are found at any of our restaurants like Rhino’s, Jay’s on the Corner, Bridgeport Inn, or the Virginia Creek Settlement.
No matter what your reason is to take a vacation Bridgeport, California is always a good place to consider. We literally have everything you would need to enjoy your time here, no matter what it is that you are looking for. You can find yourself easily falling in love with the beauty of the nature around you as well as the comfort of the locals welcoming you into every business you visit. It is a need to see place if you are trying to decide where to travel to.

Wow, Fran Falkin’s pet travel tips are a lifesaver! ? Planning our pet-friendly vacation has been a breeze thanks to these insightful tips. We followed tip #2, and now our fur baby practically loves their carrier, making our journey stress-free. Yes, recent trends suggest that Americans are regaining confidence in vacations and travel. As travel restrictions ease and vaccination rates increase, many Americans are showing a greater willingness to travel and explore destinations again. However, it’s important to stay updated on travel advisories and safety measures to ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience.
Reading Fran Falkin’s insights took me back to my first trip with Whiskers, my feline companion. The chaos of ensuring he was comfortable amidst the hustle of the airport was a lesson in patience. Had I come across these invaluable tips earlier, our journey would’ve been as smooth as a calm sea.

I read your article on the Sheep of Sun Valley and I found it very fascinating and enjoyable. You have given a detailed and colorful account of your experience at the Trailing of the Sheep Festival, which celebrates the history and culture of sheepherding in Idaho. I think your article is a great way to introduce this unique and fun event to other travelers and families who are looking for a different and memorable adventure.
