Small Town Getaway - My Family Travels
Rosholt Mill Pond1

Rosholt is a small, scenic town in Central Wisconsin, with busy highway 66 cutting right through it.  This town of only 500 people creates a close-knit community feel and welcomes travelers with open arms.  The best time to visit would be during Labor Day weekend.  The football game at the local school attracts many fans, big and small, young and old who have come to cheer on their Rosholt Hornets.  Candy-launching, bright-colored, and various themed parade floats have people lining the streets from Main Street up to the fairgrounds.  At the fairgrounds, the screams from the rides, the lights from the games, and the sugary aroma of funnel cakes will take over one’s senses.  Country music is the genre of choice in Rosholt and it’s likely that it’ll be played at any big event.  The parade and the fair are not the only things Rosholt has to offer though.  The old one room school house is always open for people to learn about the history of Rosholt, and the Benn Conservancy provides great learning opportunities for those interested in the outdoors or a simple nature walk for anyone passing through.  After exploring the special nooks and crannies of Rosholt, a great place to stop and eat would be the Brick Pit House.  Their enormous and delicious sandwiches will fill anyone up.  Since there are only around 500 people in Rosholt, everyone gets to know each other.  If anyone isn’t known, the people of Rosholt make it their duty to get to know all newcomers.

Outside of Labor Day weekend, Rosholt is still able to offer activities year round.  The bright fall foliage provides a beautiful sight for all who are unfamiliar with Wisconsin’s scenic forests and various aspects of nature.  A great way to experience the colors would be to take a walk on various trails through the forests of Rosholt.  In winter, the snowmobile and skiing trails appear very inviting from the first to the last snowfall.  When the temperature drops, those in town and those from out of town like to stop into Diane’s Country Skillet on Main Street for a warm cup of coffee or a homemade Friday night fish fry, which are very popular throughout Central Wisconsin.  The friendly wait staff and feels-like-home atmosphere will draw people of all ages.  The Lion’s Camp is a place where people are able to go to try out snowshoeing, canoeing, and kayaking throughout the winter and spring months.  Once school is out, some great places to relax and enjoy the sun are Sunset Lake and Lake Helen for excellent beaches, swimming, and tubing.  After a warm day at the beach, it’s great to stop at Kate’s, on the edge of town, for some refreshing ice cream of the craziest flavors.  The small town of Rosholt, Wisconsin is the place to go to get away and wind down while enjoying Wisconsin’s nature and the close-knit community year round.

Absolutely love this list of Mardi Gras celebrations outside New Orleans! Each destination seems to offer its own unique blend of culture, music, and vibrant festivities. While I’m tempted to explore them all, I can’t help but dream of experiencing the colorful chaos of Mardi Gras in Goa, India. Exploring India’s rich cultural tapestry during this festive season would undoubtedly be an unforgettable adventure. Thanks for inspiring wanderlust with these fantastic recommendations!
