To prove to you that Ho-Ho-Kus, located in New Jersey, is the best town, let me show you around.
First things first, you have to eat breakfast at Matthew’s diner. Matthew’s has delicious choices and there is rarely a wait to get your food. After you finish eating, walk down the street to visit the Hermitage. The Hermitage is a National landmark that has housed President George Washington and Elijah Rosencrantz, who turned it into a home and a cotton mill during the 1800s. You can take a tour of the house and hear stories about Theodosia Prevost, George Washington, Aaron Burr, the Marquis de Lafayette, William Paterson, and many other people that lived here. You can also hear about the many ghost encounters at the Hermitage that have taken place over the years.

Now that you are full and have exercised your brain, it’s time to relax your brain and watch a nice soccer game at North field. You can watch the children play with enthusiasm and fight until the finish. But, if you feel a little bored, feel free to go to Ho-Ho-Kus Public School. You can watch a basketball or baseball game from there and play on the playground while you’re at it.Still uninterested? Play a game yourself! You can play one on one or get a group of people and split into teams.
Now it’s time to take a break from all the games. For lunch, go to Café Amici: a new restaurant that has indoor and outdoor seating and serves a plethora of different foods, such as pizzas, salads, pastas, meat, fish, and many more. It also has its own gelato and pastry display, so you can grab a dessert and take it to go. Why take it to go, you ask? Well, walk across the street to the gazebo and sit inside. You can watch the cars go by, observe the beautiful scenery, and you will definitely run into someone who is willing to say hi and start a conversation.
The best part of Ho-Ho-Kus is the friendliness. Since Ho-Ho-Kus is so small, everyone knows everyone and their brother. So, if someone doesn’t know you, that person will definitely make an effort to say hi. Ho-Ho-Kus is a very comforting neighborhood because of this.
Anyways, you have some time to kill before you go out to dinner. What should we do? You can get a massage, facial, or a mani-pedi at Nails To Long For in the center of town. You can go shopping at Clover, a high end clothing store, or Clover Home, the high end furniture store. Go two doors down to take a yoga class at Room to Breathe to get in touch with your inner self. One more building down and you have reached the Protestant Church where they always have arts and crafts and movies for entertainment.
Phew, it has been a long day with tons of fun. It’s time to go out to a relaxing dinner at the classic Ho-Ho-Kus Inn. This is the most popular restaurant in Ho-Ho-Kus. The food here is to die for. Also, as you are enjoying your food, there is an arcade upstairs where the kids can play and eat while you unwind with a friend or partner. You can have a drink or two while listening to the fabulous acoustic bands that come to play, or have three or four drinks and sing some karaoke later at night.
After a fun filled day, it is finally time to head home. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
