Last year for Spring Break, my brother and I, presumably believed that we would spend our break doing nothing but chores like every other break. Instead, we got to venture to one of the exotic beaches in Destin, Florida. This trip was planned differently, in the unfortunate sense that our whole family wasn’t able to go. Going somewhere away from home was one thing, and for my parents not to be with me was another. With the realization that my parents weren’t going to be there with us, I knew that this trip had to be memorable! So I packed things that I thought would be neccesary to capture those wonderful memories I would create! Everything from my camera, iPod, batteries and a couple of snacks. It was a pretty long ride, but in a couple hours we arrived to our destination. And as we got situated in our hotel room that night, an adrenaline of emotions kicked in, along with some crazy thoughts.Was I supposed to sleep here, in a place I didn’t know? These thoughts made my first 3 nights uncomfortable to sleep. Besides the uncomfortable sleepless nights, the days were packed with sites to see and fun things to do. My favorite site was Tiki Tiki water park. We had some splashtastic fun there! Don’t forget the camera! Yes, I took my time to capture the highlights of my trip. And with all the excitement going on, I began to see everything in a new light. The nights there became precious and no longer uncomfortable. The food suddenly tasted better, the people I met were so warm and full of life! I couldn’t believe we were going back home soon. There would be so many things I would miss here. The beach for one, was an amazing attraction all on its own. The beaches shores we covered in a blanket of white sand and crystal clear water in which inhabits millions of beautiful sea creatures. Oh, the memories I’ve created on those waters. My brother, his friend and I learned how to boogie board , surf waves, and went scuba diving! And then, there was the hotel. The room I was terrified to step into, the bed I was afraid to sleep on, those feelings became forgotten dreams. On my last two days, all I tried to do was soak up as much of Florida as I could. We went shopping at Destin’s Outlet Mall, Tino’s Pier, and ate dinner at Hooters. Going shopping gave me an opportunity to buy souvenirs, and walk the streets of Destin for the last time. It was on our last day in Florida, in which we thought we’d pay the beach one last visit. We all wondered how it would feel to go at night. Since, we’ve only ever gone during the day, we thought it would be a great way to see the beach one last time. We packed and waited until sun down. Once we arrived at the beach, a rush of awe hit me! Everything we new about the beach was different. The fresh crisp scent of night, the swift movements of the water and the cold sand under my feet. It was so unusual, despite the stillness, the beach never looked so alive. Then, I looked up and saw the way the moon kissed the water, as if it were awakening the beach. Families who live near the beach, came down with their buckets and flashlights and became a part of the world that only comes alive during the light of the night.
