All About My Little Home Town, Kenosha Wisconsin - My Family Travels
Lake Michigan

The city of Kenosha has many enjoyable things to see and do all year round.  You can go fishing or to the beach in the summer, or go sledding or ice-skating in the winter.  You can also look and take pleasure in the beautiful colored leaves in the fall. There are lots of museums, parks, and family friendly things to enjoy.

The first thing that I would show the tourist would defiantly be the lake; especially the harbor and beaches.  They have great views and it’s fairly inexpensive.

There are a few museums you can visit here: The Kenosha Public Museum where you can see the Woolly Mammoth, all the Native Americans, and learn about their early settlements.  There is the Civil War Museum where you can learn about our nation’s bloodiest battle in history, and study the relations between the home front and the battlefront. You can also visit the Dinosaur Discovery Museum and see Stan, the 40-foot T-Rex; and see as well as learn about other types of dinosaurs.  All of these museums have one thing in common; they are all close together and are near Lake Michigan, but they also bring joy and fun to the people who visit them.

A couple people to meet from Kenosha are Laura Kaeppeler, who received the crown of Miss America on January 14, 2012.  Paul Ryan was the Republican vice-presidential candidate in 2012; and now represents Kenosha County in the First Congressional District.  Also, did you know that Mark Ruffalo, the famous actor, was born and raised right here in Kenosha, Wisconsin?

A fun thing to do in Kenosha is going to the annual Outta Sight Kite Festival!  Everyone gathers down by the lake in early June and participates in kite flying contests for all different ages, all day long.  You can have fun riding on the electric streetcar that takes you along the shore of Lake Michigan.

Come check out and try the hundreds of flavors, even the disgusting ones, at the Jelly Belly Factory.  You can also go on the Jelly Belly Express and learn about the history of the Jelly Bean.  If you haven’t seen the Aquanut Water Ski Shows, you really should and it’s a great thing for the whole family to see!  In the summer, you can go jam out to the music at Peanut Butter and Jam, and have a picnic with your friends and family.  One thing you should come have a taste of is the famous Garbage Plate at Frank’s Diner downtown.

Some really great picturesque scenes are the waves from Lake Michigan, the North Pier Lighthouse, the sunrise over the lake, and moon and stars over the lake with the reflections shining on the water.  You can even enjoy the latest movies at Southport Plaza’s Tinseltown Theater with some buttery popcorn and a refreshing drink.

As you can tell, Kenosha is a really great place to visit.  It may not be a big city, or a well-known place, but to us cheese heads here in Kenosha, Wisconsin, it’s perfect; and it’s what we call home.
